I just got in the door. Thanks for being worried about me. The caring here is just fantastic.
Well, girls hang on to your hats....I have lost a total 18.3 pounds! I am trashing my scales. According to my scales I would have been lucky to be down any weight at all. I am down an additional 5 pounds. I am thrilled. I am going to post this so you girls can stop worrying and I do another post to tell you the rest.

By the way the roads and visibility were terrible. Fortunately, there was very little traffic on our side of the highway.
First I met with Caroline and Lise for weight, medication review, & BP. Then Lisa and I changed offices to Rinnette's office. I didn't meet with Rinnette because she had an outside commitment. I will meet with her in 2 weeks. Lise then went over my medication and told what to take the day before and the day of surgery. She also told me to stop all vitamins immediately.
She went over the band rules with me, and how to drink. That was the first time I heard that we have to swallow in a different way. For those of you that don't know, you take a normal mouthful of water, exhale, then swallow the water a bit at a time- like 6 small swallows. That will take some getting used to. She gave me a bunch of information for the day of surgery, when to go to the ER, when to call the nurse, & post op exercises.
One thing that was news to me was that the standard of care for post op bariatric patients is to exercise 60 minutes per day. She said that even though the books they give out says 30 minutes, the latest standard of care says 60 minutes. she said that you can break that up into small blocks of time. I have done this before, in fact I used to walk 2 hours everyday and more on weekends. I did it by walking before going to work (15 minutes), both coffee breaks (30 total), walking at lunch (45 minutes), and after supper (30 minutes). It sounds like a lot when you say 2 hours a day, but it is possible to find the time.
I can confirm that the 2 week diet is Medi Trim. Lise said she finds that it tastes good. She said that she tasted Opti fast once and had a hard time to swallow the one mouthful because it tasted so bad. The Medi Trim shakes are available in vanilla and chocolate. (The vanilla can be made into different flavors by adding sugar free syrups.) There are also 2 flavors of bars- chocolate and peanut crunch. You have 4 a day in what ever combination you want. You purchase 8 boxes for the 2 week diet.
Then I meet with the respiratory technologist, had blood taken, an ECG done, and a chest x-ray. That is about it.

Charline, your scales must be the same as mine. Pure piece of crap. I was worried sick last week when actually Ihad lost weight too. That's it , I am going to find an old fashioned regular scale and throw that digital one in the garbage.
Oh yeah, Glad to see you made it hme alright. Should have posted last night but was in the middle of something.

Hey Charline, I can assure you you won't be drinking like that for long. I did for a few days and then realized i can drink normal so what the heck. I still drink normal. I don't guzzle but i gulp two or three gulps at a time. I think they are concerned about taking in alot of air, but i don't tend to drink much air. You'll adjust to your own way of doing things as you go. You must be so excited right about now. and congrats on the huge weight loss...chuck those scales of yours out the window. all that worrying for nothing. yippee !!!!

I agree with Patsy, I don't drink like they said but I don't guzzle either like I used to. I used to be able to kill a bottle of water in about 1 to 2 tips. I just drink it now probably like a normal person which I didn't do before. I don't worry too much right now either but then too I am wide open - 2 months since surgery and no fills. I did drink carefully for the first couple weeks because I was somewhat restricted but not now.
Its all a matter of feeling your way along, learning what you can and can't do and then getting used to that and getting used to being banded.
I think you are amazing Charline and you are doing just great!

Caroline showed me the same thing. Take a mouthful and swollow it in three or four swollows. I wonder if it's the same for rnyer's as it is for bandsters? I wonder if I will be able to drink normally after surgery too? Doesn't matter that much really, I suppose but it is the one thing that I will surely forget when I'm with a bunch of people.
