Patiently waiting

I have been waiting since early 2005 for my surgery date.  I follow up every few months with Dr B's office in Moncton.  I have been also referred to Dr S in Bathurst last month to try to hurry things up. 

I am about 150 over weight and have diabetes, sleep apnea, highblood pressure and I am only 35 years old.  Im hoping Dr S office will call soon.

Has anyone heard or had surgery from him? What is his success rate... should I be worried??

Hi Michele....No one has had surgery with Dr Savoie yet.  His clinic is still being set up, at least that's what we think the delay is! And no you shouldn't be worried. My understanding is that he trained with one of the best in Quebec and I'm sure he's already done hundreds of these surgeries.  I've had my appt with him and he is very confident, professional and nice looking!  And he's a New Brunswicker, actually from Bathurst so it's nice knowing he's a local boy!

I have all those symptoms you have and they aren't fun!  I'm especially looking forward to being able to go to bed without that stupid mask on!! 

You've already been waiting 4 years so you may just end up with Dr B!!  It could be a race for you as to which surgeon does the job!!   Either way, you're in good hands.  Hang tough as we all wait for that call from the hospital for the surgery or from the office for the appt.  Once Dr S starts, I think he'll move quickly through the list!!

After 4 years, you should be near the top of Dr B's list. I think that my referral was sent to Dr B in November 2004. Have you asked Nathalie what number you are on the list? Are you waiting for a lap band or by-pass?

I didnt ask her what number I was because she said since medicare now approves everyone.. she is not sure when I will be called.  Maybe I should have asked her?  Yes Dr S office says they are in the process of opening their clinic.  Im going for the by-pass.  Im a little nervous for the band.  I want something perminate I think....
