Called Dr. S's office this morning

So I called Dr. S’s office and his secretary was nice. I asked her if his hospital clinic was up and running and she said that it wasn’t.

I then asked whether there was a tentative date for the clinic opening since I had heard February. She said there wasn’t, he had not begun any surgeries and that the hospital would call when they are ready.

I am trying to be patient and I was told I would be done before Christmas so I mean I am beginning to be very anxious. I have been eating right for the past month and I have lost 10 pounds. I am just anxious to get the surgery part done and over and to go forward with my journey.

I just felt to display how anxious I am to get this done!!!

Patiently waiting,

M

We have all been where you are now in some way or other.  Everyone has a path to travel to surgery but in the end the surgery will happen and you will be amazing through it all.  Your patience now will stand you in good stead as you learn how to be a bariatric patient.

Somedays it felt to me that I would never get to the point I wanted to be at - had surgery, over, done now on with my life.  But then once things started rolling it went so fast I was amazed.

Keep up the good work with the weightloss.  I am sure you will impress the heck out of the doctor and he will be very proud of you.

On the days when it gets too much just come here and vent and we will all support you through it all.

Thinking good thoughts for you,
Ann

I know what you mean Monica.  It's difficult but I'm really starting to have a new lifestyle mentality!

I guess that part is good.   I'm just afraid that it won't happen period.  I'm probably not the only one to feel this way, but I'm just afraid that in the end, some weird thing will happen... like he'll move away, or something like that.

I can't keep on thinking like this (The Secret) .. ok ok... it will happen before Summer.

I'm going crazy!!!!

I think that I have been really patient, especially when I was told I would have surgery in December. The wait hasn’t been horrible, but it’s the “Not knowing when" that bothers me.

If his clinic was up and running and the nurse would say “No Monica, you’re on the list but you won’t be done until summer" I would shut up and wait like a good girl.

Like you, I won’t believe it until at least one person gets a call or until I have spoken to a nurse in his clinic on a status updates.

I like to have at least an idea when I will have surgery so I can make plans around it.

I’m just venting right now because I really need too!

Vent away...you guys are so in the dark with his clinic.  He never should have started seeing patients so early until he knew how things were going to progress.  I know its hard to put it out of your mind, but if you can, it would help make the time fly by.  What would be nice would be for him to figure out an expected date and have the nurse call each of the patients and give an update and an expected/realistic new date for surgery.  it's unfortunate you guys have to keep calling them.  Hang in there...your turn is right around the corner....   Patsy

I emailed the hospital...there was an email address on the site. I asked them if they had any info on the clinic that Dr Savoie would be practicing in.  I sent the email yesterday, and still haven't heard back yet.  I'll let you all know if I do.

And again....I know Dr Savoie told me before April.....but I am curious to know how much I will be delayed, as clearly...everyone who was told in DEC or JAN will be done before me.....so April is looking like Jul/Aug now. (i know..better than DR B's list...3 years I have waited...and was told 5-6 more)

I agree with another post I saw...I think his secretary, or the hospital should be contacting everyone...at least everyone who was told DEC/JAN....so they don't think he disappeared into thin air.  Even if he doesnt have an ETA ...at least to say...sorry about the delays...don't call us, we'll call you type of thing....:) or even a letter.

Ok..ill step down off the soap box now.

It would be nice to know what exactly the delay is....is it construction?  is it staffing?  If it's staffing the new clinic, we could be waiting forever!  If it's construction of the new wing, then we at least know there is an end in sight!  To be put off indefinitely is not fun but then again, I wouldn't want to be fielding all those calls that his secretary is obviously taking!  But if we look on the bright side, we could be on Dr B's list and anticipating a wait of years. At least we have each other as company in this frustrating wait!!  Hope you get an email soon!!
