I am starving
Hi all . This is day 1 of slimfast and I am starving to death. I was supposed to start yesterday but I thought yesterday was Wednesday and bu the time I got it corrected it was 11 pm. Oops, my bad.
Now if I can just keep the cold bug at bay I will be happy. I don't intend to go outside of this house unless it's to go to the George Dumont Hosp.until surgery date.
My sons had BLT's for supper and the aroma of bacon is in the air. Sniff sniff.
I am distracting myself by rereading that phamlet about gastric bypass. I see on day three, I will be able to eat cream of wheat and on day 10 post op I am allowed 1/2 toast and egg. OMG toast and egg. Feb 20 toast and egg. My new goal. Food.LOL

Keep you eye on the prize girly!!!!
You can do it - if you are at home waiting and going thru your liquid pre-op phase - this is what I did.
I set up some new bookmark sections on my computer.
Info on RNY from surgical sites- post op sites - I would also copy and paste a lot of pointers and hints from people. Anything I could get my hands on.
I also set up a recipe bookmark- look at your surgeons schedule of when you introduce what at what stage and you can look at post op recipe sites and put some on file now that you think will be of interest. You dont always have a lot of energy post op so now is the time to do that stuff.
Also window shop online and look at clothes and styles - you are going to be looking for new clothes girlfriend and they aint gonna be all from our limited choices of before...... so dream away.
Start journaling - take all your measurements - do some pre liquid pre-op then do them before surgery. And take lots of pics I didnt and I do regret it and I didnt do measurements and they so help with the NSV wows especially when you are in a stall.
Make a vision board - cut pics from magazines - print from online- how do you see your future - what do you want to do first as the new healthier you .... I dont mean when all the weight is gone - how are you going to reward yourself after the first 10lbs/ first 20 /first 40 - you get the idea. Food is not our reward anymore- and we dont hide with it or behind it - think about all non-food rewards..... make a list - right down all the ways Maggie can look after Maggie and give herself a pat on the back and make her feel better.
If you find this exercise difficult as a lot of us do- think of Maggie in the 3rd person and what would you do for your very best friend who is about to change her life for the better - how would you treat her (no pun intended lol) - what special things would you do for her......
Pm me anytime you need to chat- we are all routing for you and drink drink drink it really helps with the hunger.
hugs

Drink more water between your shakes Maggie. And if it gets real bad, go to bed and sleep through as much as you can. I went to bed earlier than usual for at least 3 nights. If the hunger is getting to you when you go to bed, drink some water and just lay there and count sheep.
I think Deb's hints are great and you should give those a try but do me a favour, stop reading about food, looking at photos of food and wishing for the food you can have after surgery. For now Food is a bad bad bad 4 letter word. Right up there with the big ones. Its the other "F" word.
If you can't go for a walk, take a shower. If you can't take a shower, soak in the tub. Read a good book, rent a movie, clean a closet, clean out your chest of drawers, anything to take your mind off the one thing you can't get your mind off of.
You can do this. Remember if you cheat you liver won't be small enough and he won't do your surgery. One lady woke up with all her incisions and no band because she was abusing ice cream right up til the day before surgery. Her liver was too big and he would not do the surgery.
It is tough I know but if you had kids, you can do this. If you have had surgery in the past you can do 2 weeks with slimfast and water.
If you need to talk to anyone come on here. We will hold your hand and tell you it will be alright and we will mean it because we have either been there or are going there.
Be strong.
Waiting for you over here and thinking good thoughts for you,
Ann

Wow, what great ideas. Thank you deb for the ideas on searching post op sites and getting suggestions. I wil do that and write them down so I won't have to search for them after wards. Reading recepies will keep me busy and something to look forward to too. Eggface has some awesome high pro recipies.
I do plan on keeping my hands busy. I have 4 pieces of ceramics that I've been planning to paint for 2 years and just keep putting it off. Now seems like a good time to complete them
Thank you for all of your kind words. I will make it and you are right Ann. I always find going to bed helps. I've been known to go to bed at 6;30 sometimes. LOLI lead a wild single life.
When I was up talking to Caroline, she said that Dr. B. sent someone else home too after inserting the lap equiptment due to liver not shrunk enough. Don't want that to happen to me.

4 shakes of Optifast is 900 cals per day (225 per shake)
According to the Minogue website the MediTrim is drinks and bars are 230 per serving or 920 cals per day.
I sure would have loved to try the bars instead of the Optifast shakes. Oh well its all behind me but I am glad the rest of you have another option.
