Medic Alert Bracelets
I struggle with the it and like a lot of you dont want someone flipping it over and reading my business but I do have sulpha allergies and very allergic to codeine. And my own family doc had always mentioned I should have had one for that.
It was actually hubby who said just tell people its for sulpha allergies its not like anyone is gonna grab you arm and read it.
So that being said - my two allergies will be on it and the wording I have come up with regarding my WLS will be- Lap RNY GB -June 10/08

No NG Tube or NSAIDS

That is why I like the casual braclets I had posted above it does not draw as much attention to the medical alert tag - but my sister who is a nurse said they always chk your wrists (supposed to worn on left wrist)/neck and wallet - where I have my info as well.
I think it is important for the many times I am alone travelling that something be able to speak for me when I could not - god forbid- Wow when I think about all times I am out and about just running errands in the car or downtown something could always happen (knock on wood) and how would anyone know if I was unconscious and couldnt reach my husband.
So something to think about.

Forgot to add this link that is bascially what I was talking about - it is from Susan Maria Leach
Lauren's Hope Medical Identification Bracelet
One moment I was on the back of our BMW1200 LT, enjoying the sunny Key West morning, and the next I was sliding down the pavement on my arms and stomach wondering what on earth had happened!
Just minutes before our motorcycle slid out from under us, I had zipped the front of the Kevlar jacket my husband had ordered me to don in the 85 degree heat. I put on my motorcycle helmet and jacket in case the worst should happen, and using the same reasoning none of us should be without a Medical ID Bracelet.
When the ambulance arrived, the EMT grabbed my left arm to look at my Lauren’s Hope ID tag even though I was fully conscious. It made me realize how important it is to wear one.
Three years ago I started wearing a Lauren’s Hope Medical ID Bracelet after more than four years of thinking that I didn't need one. My Swarovski crystal & sterling silver bracelet is actually a beautiful piece of jewelry. The shiny medical tag, engraved with my key medical info is worn on the inside of my left wrist where is it out of plain view but obvious to medical personnel trained to look for such an ID when taking a pulse during triage.
Lauren's Hope bracelets are fine jewelry that you won't mind wearing on the same hand as a good watch or beautiful diamond wedding ring; which is what finally got me to start wearing one.
I want to ensure that if I were unconscious or unable to speak for myself that doctors working on me would know that I had a gastric bypass procedure. I want the surgeon looking at my scan or performing exploratory surgery to know in advance that my anatomy has been rearranged. I want medical problems more common to gastric bypass patients to be considered sooner rather than later. It makes sense and now that these bracelets offer a perfect marriage of jewelry and medical practicality it is an important investment for all of us.
We are responsible for putting thousands of Lauren's Hope Medical ID bracelets on post-op wrists! While we do not sell the bracelets on our website, I am a supporter of this wonderful company that makes a superb, high quality product. – Susan Maria Leach
