in what language is you lap band card?

This is a hoot guys.  I never really looked at my lapband card that you are supposed to carry with you at all times.  I just put it in my purse.  Well the other day I got it out and realized the information on it was in a foreign language.  Now living in New Brunswick I am accustomed to seeing things in bilingual format - English and French but the language on my card was really weird looking.  

So I went to google and typed "what language is this" and it pulled up a site that you could type in the language and it would tell you what it was.  So I typed this stuff in and guess what - its in flippin' Swedish!!!  OMG I laughed so hard.  Like I love to travel but I won't be going to Sweden in the near future and like what are the chances that a first response medical type person who would be attending to me in an emergency would be able to read Swedish?  OMG I laughed again. 

Here I am about to go on a 20 day trip to many many places and none of them are Swedish.  Well 2 of them are in the Dutch Antilles but they don't speak Swedish as their first or second language they speak Dutch.

I called the clinic and they have no idea why my card is in Swedish.  And they don't really have a replacement card because the card came out of the package that my personal Lap Band came out of.   Caroline has a bilingual card that says what it says on my card but it has no place for the serial number etc.

So I am just wondering Patsy and anyone else who got banded in Moncton - in what language is your card.

Oh and the reason I discovered this?  I was looking at medic alert bracelets for Lap Band and also because I have a severe allergy to Sulpha drugs and wondered what it said on my card - too bad I couldn't read it.   I went to Google again and tried the Google translation and it would not translate all the words so again I laughed because my card is basically useless to me.

Thought I better bring this up just in case someone else has a Swedish card.

I've heard of the Swedish band before, but I didn't know that they were imported directly. ;-)

Does it read something like this:

I never would have noticed that.  But my serial number is on the back of the card. it's a sticker that they stuck to the back next to Dr. Beausoleil's name and phone number.

So from now on you can refer to me as 13722001 !!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have had my chuckle for the day !

Hee! That's German. Yowzers, does Dr. Beausoleil have these cards in every language? That's hilarious.

Caroline at the clinic told me that the card comes directly out of the packaging that your personal band comes from and that they fill it out to give to you on the day of your surgery. 

so mine isn't the same as yours? 
that's odd.  why german?
mine was given to me in the recovery room as i was being discharged.

Hello 13722001  This is 13639382 back at you.  Gee we sound like ham radio operaters here,  too funny. 

Mine reads "Den har personen har ett justerbart gastric band implanterat runt magsacken for att underlatta viktminskning."  There are a bunch of little dots and squiggles over some of the vowels in some of the words.

Not sure what is up with that but the card is supposed to provide information to first response medical staff.  Not much good is it?  I am going to go online and see if there is something that we can use to get what we need to carry for emerg  purposes. 

I am still giggling over that - me in Swedish and you in German.  Too funny.

My card is in French but the back is empty. So I got the right language but no information rendering the card useless I guess, I hadn't realized some people actually had the back filled out! LOL!!

I don't think I have seen you post here before. Welcome. What part of the province do you hail from? The reason I ask is that we have a couple of social support groups and I am always looking to recruit a New Bee! I look forward to seeing your "name" again.

So that means you don't have the serial number and model number of your band.  I would think that would be important.  When were you banded? 

Welcome to the board if you are new.  If not, then welcome back.  We are a busy group we have a lot of waiters here and some of us are about to have surgery in the next few weeks.  I was banded on Dec 2, 2008.  Doing well, no fill yet and as far as I can tell I am wide open but I am still measuring my food and I am still losing.
