How did you do with your goals today?

I drove for 8 3/4 hours today to attend a 1 hour meeting in Dalhousie, so I didn't get any exercise in. I had the urge to eat all day, but think I did quite well. I had my usual breakfast of Cheerios, Bran Buds and soy milk. In he car I had 2 apples, 1 nectarine, Glucerna, and a Glucerna bar. At supper (not easy on the road when you don't want to stop to eat) I had a chicken salad sandwich, and half a Fuzz  vitamin drink. After I post my day on Livingstrong, I well decide what else I can eat.
I also got a liter of water in.  I practiced small bites and chew-chewing on the fruit and bar.

Does anyone have suggestions for eating on the go, since I often eat in the car while on the road?

again today! NOT ENOUGH calories. Only about a thousand so far again. I don't get it because I mean I feel like I eat all day compared  to what I used to eat!

Today I had:

Wholewheat turkey sandwish with cheese & mustard
Boneless chiken breast with brown rice, brocolie and cheese
a Curves chocolate & penut bar
a Banana

I didn't get enough calories and water in because I was insanely busy at work and I didn't have the time to do anything but run around like a mad woman.

Tommorow will be better because I will pack some things to snack on. I also am thinking of throwing in an ensure to make sure that I get enough calories. I am losing weight, but I don't want to do it the wrong way.

as for eating on the go..plan ahead and pack a lunch.

Most of the food I ate today, I brought with me, but I forgot that I would be on the road until 7:30pm. All too often I can't plan ahead because I don't always have the luxury of knowing ahead of time. Such is my profession.

I remember days of travelling on the road years ago with my job when we lived in Quispamsis and each Irving Big Stop I flew by on the NB highways it was like KC Irving himself was standing there - saying hey pullover we sell way more than gas....... lol

I wouldnt never take the time to stop and eat but would stop and by all the junkfood I could get my hands on.......... oh my its a wonder I didnt go off the road due to a sugar induced coma-- man I was out of control......... you are doing very well.

Now when I am on the road even just out for the day running errands I bring lunch and snacks cause its so much easier than stopping and trying to find friendly items.

For protein i will toss in either cheese sticks or the slices of marble cheese I think its called activia liv stuff- something like that but its 5 grams of protein low carb/low fat - I even buy it prepackaged so I can just toss a slice in - my daughter loves it too.

I also have developed a liking for beef jerky - after thinking it was disgusting when my husband would eat it. I discovered it when I was in Montreal in december- almost 20 grams of protein for a serving- its expensive but some of the gals online in Ontario have bought food dehydrators to make there own.

I eat soy nuts and almonds. Sometimes I will eat half of a kaishi granola bar some of the kinds are not too bad in sugars - great fibre and very chewy!

I have also become addicted to shrimp - the larger sizes (31/40 count) I buy have 2 grams of protein each. And I use a few of my carbs by tossing in some seafood ****tail sauce - I will take the tails off and put a little sauce over them and keep them very cold - if I need to eat them while driving I skip the ****tail sauce. This time of year is so great to keep everything so cool- I spent all summer fighting the heat and trying to keep things cold when I was out. I have always needed my protein drinks ice cold.

I also will drink my protein drinks in a travelling coffee mug when I am on the road. This time of year I am not enjoying them as much but I have to get in 70-75 grams of protein a day so I have to always be working it! LOL

I love blueberries because they are one of the lowest carb fruit and I am developing a taste for cottage cheese - I prefer it with the fruit blend but couldnt find that in Montreal so I mixed in a lil pomegranite blueberry Nestea mix and it tasted like yogourt but more protein.

Change it up so you dont get bored for the days you are on the road.

You will get in more fibre and less carbs if you choose a whole wheat tortilla shell to do your sandwich in- I can get ones at Petes Frootique here that are 5 grams of fibre have protein and are less than 3 grams of carbs- I studied every brand they had before finding these ones cause people in the states would always talk about low carb/low fat ones- I was so excited when I found them. I can only eat half a small one to do tacos cause any bread stuff feels me up too quick -  and hard to digest. Then I dont have room for my protein.

I know there are lots of recipes for wrap sandwiches on Eggfaces website.

Tossing in a hard boiled egg too is also something you can eat on the go.

Have fun!   best smiley I could find but he is drinking while eating which is a no no!!! LOL

I like the individually wrapped 1 oz cheese. grab a couple of those and a few crackers. Love it. Small and simple. Once I start slimfast I will be consuming a little less than 1000 calories a day. After surgery I will be eating about 800-1000 cal per day.

Holy Moses, I see we have a storm coming tomorrow. Glad I went to Moncton today. I won't drive or even be on bad roads. Had to do it for years. Now I figure Life's Too Short.
