Good news
I called Nathalie at Dr B's office and Dr B has given me the green light for surgery. Nathalie sent my name over to the Dumont today. She said that he didn't know if the last 2 weeks of February are booked yet or not. If i don't get a call in the next 2 weeks, it means February is booked up. Now I am really panicked about the extra 2.2 pounds I am carrying. It was 1.2 last week before I went to Halifax; restaurants and no real exercise are not good for me. I did stick to my shake for lunch and no junk at night. The hotel had a bowl of apples at the front desk- what a treat!
I am going to call Rinnette for some advise about losing the same few pounds over and over again. I still don't feel as positive as I should, I think it is being heavier than I was on Dec 8th that is holding me back! Feel free to abuse me into diet submission!!
I forgot to get my water this morning- I didn't even realize it until this moment. Well, I am off to the walking track. My lungs are not in the best shape, but I can still walk as fast as they (my lungs)will allow me.
By the way Nathalie confirmed that Dr B will not operate on me when i have a cold. I have been taking zinc daily.
Thanks for all your support yesterday gals! Your support means a lot to me. I think you are especially important for me and others who have not told their family and friends about our WLS plans. You give us a place to vent and get positive feed back.

OMG Charline! You are on your way - won't be long now. I think it is a good idea to call Rinette to dicuss options for you. You might want to consider starting some Slimfast for a meal or 2 for the next few days it will start you getting used to liquid meals and it might help you lose those stubborn little extras that are worrying you so much.
I am worried though about what Nathalie told you regarding the cold since the clinic nurse told me if I had a cold I could not have surgery. I would call Caroline at the clinic to verify that information. I would take what the clinic told me over his receptionist, but that is just me.
I know you will be ready when your day comes and things will fall into place for you. Your call from the hospital will be for preadmission testing as well as your surgery date which will be 2 weeks after preadmission. On preadmisiion day you will visit with the clinic nurse, a respirology technician and with Rinette. Rinette will set up your order for Optifast if that is the route you are taking or discuss Slimfast with you. One week after preadmission you will visit the clinic once again to weigh in and have your vitals checked. Then one more week and surgery!
I am so excited for you Charline - finally some action!

Ann, you always bring a smile to my face. Thank you for that.
As for the Slim Fast, I have been having been drinking Glucerna for lunch for almost 2 months. Gluserna is a meal replacement for diabetics. Today at lunch I was going to buy Slim Fast, and I did some label comparisons. Gluserna has less calories than Skim Fast and Slim Fast alternatives. Plus that have as the second ingredient "glucose solids"- that translates to sugar to me. I like the Glucerna because it is made with complex carbs which take time to be absorbed.
As for this cold- I am taking zinc and I bought vitamin C today. This kind of cold usually hangs on and on with me. It usually turns into bronchitis. So if I don't see significant improvement in a couple of days, I am calling my doctor for an antibiotic to fight or prevent secondary infection. As for what Nathalie told me, I am sure that either Caroline or Dr B told me the same thing at the time of the consult.
I have to do a write up for a case conference on Wednesday by the end of today, as soon as that is done I will call Rinnette.
Charline- the soon to be ex-waiter! LOL

Now Charline, Breathe. Stop worrying and fretting. Your surgery is at least 2 weeks away. Those 2.2 pounds may very well come off by then and your cold will be gone too. Keep up what you are doing and you will be fine. I feel for you about the weight though. I know what you mean abou****er. I too hate the vile stuff. I buy crystal lite and that makes it tolerable. I am not doing so well with water. I make sure I get 2/ 500ml bottles in a day using the crystal lite. You know, a year from now we will both look back at this time and laugh our butts off. Our skinnier butts. LOL
Maggie, you are so funny and understanding. Read my answer to Ann above- I am really getting serious about this! 5077 steps today and it's only half over!! I also bought flavored bottled water at noon. It is carbonated, which I won't be able to have post-op, but for now getting the water in so the fat will come off is a higher priority. Another trick I use to get the water in is to add some lemon juice (which is a diuretic and reputed to be a fat burner) and a couple of packets of Splenda- lots of ice and you have lemon aid!
Thanks again Maggie for the encouragement and the good laugh! I never thought of myself as ever having a skinny butt! My little Lisa (daughter) won't be the only one that will get complaints about having a bony butt when she sits on her beau's lap! .......do you think that's possible? Oh it's good to have dreams! LOL

I AM SO EXCITED for you!!!!!! (um... I mean envious, but it's all good)
I am having a Slimfast for breakfast and one for lunch and eating a healthy supper. I do have a few snacks like nuts, yogurt and fruit if I do get hungry between my meals and I lost quite a bit. I do however feel sick as well. Took the rest of the day off today as I'm dizzy, my stomach hurts and feels like it's floating... Unfortunately, I think a lot of people are feeling it but I'm sending you the last positive vibes that I have left in me!!!!
Keep us posted Charline!!!
luv,
Rachel

Thanks Rachel. I looked at the Slim Fast today but it has more calories than the meal replacement I am already using (it is for diabetics). It also doesn't have glucose solids in it either.I have been having it for lunch for about 2 months. I am going to have one for breakfast tomorrow too. I have to drive to Dalhousie tomorrow, so it won't be easy to not snack- I have a deadline and if I get sleepy, snacking is the only thing that keeps me awake. Better fat than dead! I will bring a couple of diabetic chocolate bars and fruit and take as long as possible to eat each one. I hope that will be enough!
Charline, you mentioned that you use glucerna as a meal replacement. I have used boost diabetic in the past because it has 196 calories and 16 g protien per serving. Then when I was in shopping last Friday I looked at slimfast. It has 245 cal and 12 g protien. The big difference was the size of the container. I think there waqs onlyone hundred and some mls in the boost while there was 235 mls in the flimfast. I don't know much about glucerna. I am diabetic too and I will have to ask Rinette avout taking my metformin while on the 2 week liquid diet.
