How did you manage?
Haven't had the Optifast "pleasure" yet and not a big coffee drinker ... but I have started drinking a bit of tea (usually cranberry) to add some extra water to my diet and have options for my clear fluids down the road.
Some have added coffee/coffee flavering to their shakes so check with the doctor if you can when the time comes ... hopefully soon!

I drink a very large quantity of coffee so that was a big concern for me as well. I asked at my info session and was told I could have one cup of black coffee in the morning. I don't know how the black will go or the one cup (i usually drink up to 10 timmies a day) but at least it's something. This whole process really is much bigger than research can show. This is what I've learned since joining. Pre-op:No food, no smokes, no coffee, yucky optifast. Post-op: little food, no smokes, no coffee, bad gas and no yucky optifast. And all for what....FOR MY NEW HEALTHY LIFE...It is soooo worth it. The pay off will be so much bigger...me...smaller.
If I can have 1 cup with splenda and coffee mate, I will be happy, happy, happy. There is no dairy product in coffee mate so maybe it will be O.K. It has 10 calories per teaspoon too. I will ask on Tuesday. Rinette will know. Some surgeons only want 2 days full fluids and 1 day clear fluids. Not that it matters. If he wanted 2 weeks complete fasting, That'd be alright too. I am almost there. Too close to worry about something as small as coffee. Maybe just wishful thinking.
I've waited 5 years for this, believe me I won't screw it up now.
