Hello,
I would like to know more about the surgeon who does the DS surgery. I am waiting for an consult with another Dr. for RNY. But really interested in getting the DS surgery and haven't found anyone else that does this surgery. I'd like to contact him about an out-of-province referral since I'm from Winnipeg,Mb. Thanks

The Dr has not opened his clinic yet, it is scheduled for next month. He is in Bathurst and I don't know if they have air service or not (It's a small place= like 7000 people or less). Here is his contact info-
Dr. Marc Savoie:  506-548-9960 Fax: 506-548-1898

He is not currently doing consults until his clinic is open, but send the referral anyway.

Thanks for the info. I'll get my referral in right away. What about the wait times is it long?

Hi,

We're not sure how long the wait is with Dr. Savoie as we still are waiting to get calls for surgery. As Charline said above, the clinic is only opening up in February, but I think that his waiting list isn't going to be too bad if you can get your referral in now. My doctor put in my referral for him in the first week of October, and I was called in to see him a couple of weeks later. If his list isn't too long, you could probably foresee getting in this year sometime. Hopefully. :-D

Bathust does have an air-port: www.bathusrtairport.ca. It's not the biggest airport, but it does the trick. ;-) Bathurst is a little city with a population of about 13000. There's hotels and B&Bs in the surrounding area.

You'll probably see more messages here about Dr. Savoie in the upcoming weeks because there are a lot of people here expecting to get a call from the hospital when his clinic opens up.

That is all about you point of view. Here in NB we are used to waiting for years! I have been waiting for 5 years.  Dr S, being new, does not have a long wait list yet. At least that is what we think. No one has had a consult lately, so no new information on the wait time.

Hey I didn't think Bathurst was that big.

I knew they have an airport but last I heard, Jazz pulled out of there.... or  was going to .... sorry for the misinformation.

Thank you for your infomation. I sent my referral by fax just a little while ago, so now I wait. I was doing a bit of research on the town of Bathurst, NB. Not sure about what flies into there but it ok. It is a small town which is just fine with me. I didn't see much info about Dr. Savoie can anyone tell me how he is? friendly? upfront about surgery risks? How new to province? Besides that how is everyone doing today on this board? Happy, Hope so!
