I just spoke with his office and the lady said that he has not seen any patients since before Christmas and will not see any new ones for consults until his clinic is up and running which "should be" by the beginning of next month.

*sigh*

My cousin called Dr. S’s secretary and was told the surgeries were delayed and would only begin next month.  She wrote me an e-mail to let me know. I hope this means February and not March- but if so, what can you do?

I think it’s pretty logical at this point for everyone to add a 2 month delay to what you were expecting (winter time, etc). I mean there has been a 2 month delay in beginning the surgeries and who knows how many days in the OR he will get, etc.

I know about 5 people in real life that are going for surgeries with him so everyone is keeping me updated.

I checked the other Dr. S patients on the other lap band forum, and they are also anxiously waiting. They claim that there is a machine that has not yet arrived or something which is the cause for the delay.

Either way, I am anxious to get things started but I’m trying to stay positive. I think that not having to wait 5 years like some of Dr. B’s patients is a blessing.

I think that things happen for a reason too. Maybe it's better that we don't have to travel in January because of all the bad weather - at least in March and April it can be a bit better weather for those who have to travel. Of course with the way this winter is going, anything can happen. ;)

Yes you are absolutly correct in saying that everything happens for a reason but I feel in my heart that things will be moving along faster with Dr Savoie then with Dr B at this point and as well where Dr Savoie's list is certainly not as long as Dr B's but in due time it will fill up I am sure the way things are going so I am very hopefull that I will receive a call this year some time and be on my way to a thinner and healthier me.  I can't wait.

It's true that everything happens for a reason.  I am healthier, getting my body prepared for the op. and mentally, I'm accepting this new lifestyle very well.

We have a trip planned for June... we thought we were safe but now I'm doubting.  I shouldn't think of things like that but I do.  I was so sure that I would get my operation before April.  We have a concert (dream of a lifetime for me) on April 16th and in June, we're going to montreal.  We have tickets to go see Cirque du Soleil there and have a few things lined up (shopping for new clothes!!!) ... ah well, we will have to wait and see.   It's funny that you can plan something in your mind and it can all change.

Having the lap band should not slow you down too much on your travel plans. The worst of it is only I think 5 or 6 days. I could be wrong. Ann or Patsy would know better.

I think you're right Maggie but with my luck, my date is bound to be smack in the middle of our plans.  The best  is that I promised myself that we wouldn't plan anything however it was stronger than us!!!!  and with all the delays, I'm just starting to get worried.

Are some of you on both Dr. B's and Dr. S' list just in case?  I was wondering about that to have a back up plan...  or am I being too paranoid?

I have read several times that you can drop sizes so fast that you can shrink out of an outfit before you have a chance to wear it! They advise buying used clothing, whenever possible, until your weight loss slows down.  I have bucket loads (Rubbermaid tubs) of out grown clothing and I hope they fit in the right season. I have 1 or more containers in sizes 22, 20, & 18 plus a number of outfits in size 16 and a couple of size 14. I have started bargain shopping in size 14 &16 at year end sales and used clothing stores. .We have a charity shop here in Fredericton that retrains women who have been out of the job market to work in clothing retail stores. They sell new and gently used quality clothing and some household goods and jewelry. They often have sales on Saturdays and I load up. If you are coming to Freddy, it is next to the King St Irving- downtown. Oh the store name is "Changes".
