Oh Charline, I am so sorry that you found Dr. B. to be difficult. i found him to be wonderful. He explained everything to me and I asked a million questions. He patiently answered every one of them and we discussed Petersens hernia and how often it occurs in gastric bypass. He was amazing. He certainly did not sugar coat anything.  He gave me the facts and even made sure I understood them. The most wonderful thing was that he answered every question that I asked . I've had quite a few surgeries in my time and I can't recall anyone spending the time to really talk to me not down to me. I was really impressed and I am hard to impress.

I find all of his staff the same as him. I must have asked poor Caroline a dozen things too and before I left I got to ask poor Rinnette a hundred other things. They were all so nice about it. I suppose they get asked the same questions a dozen times a day. Rinnette took the time with me and even offered me to come back for an info session if I wanted to. All of them said to call anytime if I had a question or concern.

I didn't find him difficult, just not personable. I am a bit miffed that he postponed me for 3 months and didn't say anything to me. I found he answered my questions, but he didn't ask me much- nothing about my eating habits etc. I found the staff at the info session was great. When I called about why I hadn't received a surgery date, Caroline was excellent. The good doctor doesn't have to be my buddy and I am fine with that.  He is an excellent surgeon and that is all I need from him. It is entirely possible that he is not comfortable with me- I make eye contact rather intensely when I an focused and am a bit forward to use an old fashion term- I may have been in his space when I pulled my chair up to the desk to use it to write on. I am not upset about it.
Have you met with any of the staff other than the weigh in and the info session? I thought there would be a consult with Rinnette before surgery.

Thank you for your kind concern.

Yeah, Dr. B. took me over to her office and introduced us. It wasn't a scheduled appointment but she talked to me for over half an hour. She was fantastic too. Caroline is a sweetheart. I'm sure I babbled on and on at the poor woman. I didn't see Natalie on Monday because I arrived early and I think she was at lunch. I really feel like the whole team has my best intrests at heart. What a great way to go into something as scary as this.

Were you at the hospital or the office? Nathalie works at his office. He may have been behind when i was him because he didn't introduce me to anyone. I agree about Caroline- she is a sweetheart. We are very distantly related via my father and her mother.  I agree that your best interest is their primary objective. I may warm up to Dr B, after all, with the scenery that good, I will be in a positive frame of mind!  Really I don't dislike him, as I said, I just didn't warm up to him. He certainly was one of the nicest surgeons I've met- second only to one actually.

I understand what you are saying. I was a nurse for many years and I have met some md's that I wouldn't give 2 cents for. I must say most of them were very committed to their professions and really nice human beings. Most surgeons I've dealt with in my day had one thing in common. They were always in a hurry. LOL Rush here, rush there. i suppose that's because they always have a lot on their minds.

I certainly didn't get the impression that he wasn't a kind and caring person, just the opposite.  At the first meeting, he addressed himself to my husband and the second time he barely said anything to me and again, no eye contact. As you said surgeons are always in a hurry, and both times he appeared to be running late. I guess I had read so many glowing endorsements, that my expectations were very high.
