Anne, are you back to work?
I was just wondering if you were back to work yet and how it's going? it's different packing lunches for a teeny belly. How is your stamina....and energy level. Is all ok????

Hey Patsy, Thanks for asking about me. I have been back at work since Monday. I was lucky enough to be able to combine sick time and vacation time and so I had the entire month of December off. It gave me a chance to get back to eating food and not having to explain liquids or puree to my co-workers. They just think I am on a diet.
I developed a bad and I mean bad cold on Dec 27. I got laryngitis so bad I could barely talk above a whisper. I am still very croaky and this is now 2 weeks of sniffin', snortin' and coughin'. The coughing part is the worst because it makes my port incision hurt. I called the clinic and they told me to use a pillow to cushion my port incision and it works fine. When caught without a pillow I just put my arm over the incision and hug my midriff and I am fine. I just wish I could shake this cold though. It means I have not been exercising since breathing deeply brings on a fit of coughing. I saw a doctor and he said its a virus that is going around and has to run its course, just treat the symptoms. So that is what I have been doing.
However that made this first week at work a bit much. I was beat by the end of each day and useless in the evenings. It was all I could do to finish work, come home, eat and sit in my chair and watch TV with my eyes closed until hubby woke me up to tell me to go to bed. I think if I had not had the surgery my system would have been able to fight this cold better. So really I have no idea if my exhaustion is from the surgery or the cold but it's probably both.
Lunches are neat. Not nearly as large or heavy to lug into work. I make sure I have a couple of snacks. Usually a half cup of yogurt and 2 ounces of pureed strawberries or a pear/applesauce and a bit of low fat cheese. I like the Laughing Cow low fat cheese with my applesauce. I have breakfast of either a protein drink or Carnation Instant Breakfast (on the weekends I have oatmeal or scrambled eggs) and the for lunch I have taken home made chili or a soup that has been beefed up with beans and chopped chicken or turkey. I am drinking my water and eating lightly at suppertime. Usually more soup or some salmon or a small omlet with light cheese. I am not getting enough protein yet but have increased my intake some this week. Its all a big learning/trial and error kind of thing. I have no restriction to speak of but I can't eat much more than a cup of food at a time. I don't really have to sip my water, I can drink like I did before surgery but I continue not to drink with meals and I am not missing any of the things I gave up before the surgery. I haven't been to a restaurant yet so I am looking forward to that experience as well.
The scales have not moved much in the past 2 weeks due to inactivity but I have not gained since surgery and am still down a total of 20 pounds since Dec 2, 35 plus since my first consult. All in all I think I am doing quite well considering getting sick so soon after surgery and having it hang on so long.
We are looking forward to our cruise come the end of February and so I want to try to get back to the treadmill starting Monday if I can manage not to cough too much by doing so. I have nothing to wear to work that isn't totally baggy much less on the cruise so this is going to be an interesting adventure in creative shopping I think.
Bottom line? I am not in a hurry to get a fill. I am doing fine thus far without one. Not having much real hunger, only head hunger and I just drink water when that happens. I would like to get the cruise out of the way before a fill. And as far as learning to live the banded life, well I am taking it one meal at a time, one food at a time and that is fine for me for now. I didn't rush into the surgery and I am not rushing the rest of my life either. I am so fortunate to have the opportunity to change my life, I want to take my time and do it right. I don't want the weight to fall off so fast that my skin doesn't have time to catch up. I don't want to feel weak and sick because I am not eating properly. So I just am doing what they told me to do (except the exercise but that will come once I shake this cold).
Thanks again for asking about me. I see by your photos on your account that you are looking absolutely awesome. What a change in you! You are beautiful! And you look so happy. That is wonderful. You deserve it.

Anne , sorry to hear that you have the flue or cold .There is a lot of it going around. It sounds like you are doing very well with banded life. I really like to hear all about your life with the band . It kind of paves the way for me (and others too) , to hear . Hope that you feel better soon . Take care.
Thanks guys, I am feeling a little better this morning for a change. Not so croaky and that is nice because having to try harder to get sound out of my vocal chords was tiring, exhausting actually. I am still stuffy and congested in the head but I am going to continue to treat that symptom with just a decongestant and hope that perhaps by the end of this week I will be truly "better". I am going to try to get on the treadmill today after work for just a few minutes and hope I don't cough too too much. I will let you know how I make out.
