Call for info session
He didn't say either except that since I am from NS I am funded only for RNY and would have to pay for the band myself. I cannot afford the band so its not an option for me. He has done RNY on people who have a BMI lower than 60 and I'm hoping that is the case with me. If I got this close to be let down I will be so terribly upset and depressed. Now I'm worried.... :(
Debbie, let me know what you find out too. I told Dr B I absolutely want the RNY and he flatly refused because both my BMI is below 60 and the lapband is covered here by medicare.If it were not covered I would have had a choice so I presume that is why you also have a choice. His belief is that the banding is every bit as effective long term and no impact financially, therefore makes no sense to undergo more serious surgery if the outcome will be the same. I told Nathalie today that I will still fight him on it because I really want the bypass but he was very adament what he will do. No choice. Obviously I'll take whatever help I can get but I'm still going to try and persuade him my way. I'm just so grateful that I'm into 'months' waiting instead of 'years'...yay.
