Hi Ann, I was thinking of you & wondering how you were making out . I haven't seen any posts lately. Thanks for asking Cat. I haven't been posting much, I have just been enjoying the season. I had a great holiday season even though I was eating puree, it didn't matter. I had a great Christmas day and a very low key New Year's Eve due to weather and a bad cold.
What stage of eating are you on now ? I am back on "real food" but I am taking it slow. I made a chili with extra beans and ground chicken and I can eat a little less than a cup of that with ease. I am trying to eat slowly and chew chew chew just like they tell us to. I was nervous at first at the prospect of eating food again and toyed with the idea of continuing puree for a while longer since I was very comfortable with that but I grabbed the bull by the horns so to speak and my first meal was a couple ounces of turkey cut up very very small, 1/4 cup of potatoe dressing and some carrots. It was a meal fit for a king as far as I was concerned. It tasted sooooo good. I was terrified that the turkey would get stuck so I chewed it like forever. But all went well and I am now adventuring into newer foods every day.
Are you losing much weight so far ? I have lost nearly 19 pounds since surgery on December 2nd and a total of 35 since my first consult back in June. I had a huge non scale victory recently though. I had to go find a few clothes to wear for work because everything that I wore daily before surgery is hanging like a bag on me. I used to wear a Pennington's size 24 pants before and was able to buy a pair of size 19 petite at Wal-mart the other day. My husband says I look terrific and he told me he is so proud of me to have the courage to do this. That alone was worth it all to me to hear him say he is proud of me and for him to say I look good - well that was just awesome! He is a wonderful man and he took such good care of me after surgery. I could not have done all this without his steadfast support and his tender care. I am one very very lucky woman.
Do you know when you go for your first fill ? I have only heard that Dr. Beau is behind in his fills and so I am just going to wait til someone calls me. I am planning to go on a cruise in February so if I don't get a fill before then - well I think I will be pleased actually because I don't want to be trying to get used to restriction while I am so far away from home and the doctor should any problems arise during travel.
I know this sounds like twenty questions . I am interested in your journey & wish you well. Happy New YEar. I don't think this is 20 questions at all. I so appreciate your interest and your good wishes. I want you to know that I am here for you as you continue your process. I prefer to call it a process rather than a journey. Jouneys end, procedures continue daily and I am not looking to end this lifestyle change, I am looking to continue the process for the rest of my life. So if you have any questions or if there is any way I can help you, just contact me via the forum or via the message option on my ID page. I wish you a Happy New Year as well - this will be your year for change, your year for success and our year to become the women we deserve to become.
