Staples are gone!!!!
Good news! We braved the lousy road conditions to go to Moncton this afternoon and my staples are gone. Oh my go**** feels wonderful. They were pinching and grabbing a certain way I moved. It didn't hurt at all to have them removed. A couple of them stung a bit but it was not so bad. She had to put a dressing on the one incision that is still scabbed over and a little infected but other than that its all good. I feel better already.
I got a chance to meet Patsy who was there for a fill. We just chatted briefly but I was so glad to finally meet her and she is just as nice in person as she is on this forum. Her hubby was there as was mine and Jay seems like a nice fellow. Come to find out one of his uncles lived in my home town a few years back and I actually knew him casually. Small world isn't it?
I hope they have a safe drive home. The drive up to Moncton for us was kind of hairy. The drive home was a bit better but not much.
When you get your staples out, you also have to meet with Rinette. She just goes over what and how you are eating now and what to do when you come off puree. That is a good thing. I am kind of worried about going on unpureed foods. The chewing and being careful is an issue for me. I was a fast eater before and I can't do that from now on so it is going to take some real concentration on my part. But both Caroline and Rinette were pleased with my progress thus far and I have lost a total of 17 pounds since I was last at clinic, 15 since surgery. My blood pressure and temperature were good as was my oxygen intake so I am now on the road to "real food" and my first fill and the rest of my life. Woo hoo.
