My first Fill !!!!
Wow, what a day. We left Halifax at 8:30 and got to Moncton at 12:30 which was only one hour extra. We went to Costco to waste some time and then off to the hospital. I met with Caroline and was down 7 lbs since last visit. She was happy. Then off to see Dr. B to do my fill. He tried a few times but could hit the nail on the head, so off to xray we went to do it under fluoroscopy. Even though it took longer I was pleased cause I was curious to find out about that procedure. It was very cool. The radiologist does the fill and Dr. B watches on a monitor and instructs the radiologist on the amount to put in/take out. First they put in 3 cc's...drink a little barium....added one more cc.....drank a little barium....added .5 cc....drank a little barium.....drank a little ice water.....then took out .5cc. So in total they put in 4 cc's. Yeah! I'm on liquids for 2 days and puree's for 2 days. I am so excited to see how things go from here. Dr. B. said when I left that he would see me in 6 weeks. That's great! I'll keep you aprised of how things progress....Merry Christmas to meeeeeeeeee !!!
p.s. yes as you already read, I got to meet Ann and her husband at the hospital. Wonderful people. What a great way to make new friends. Glad you got home safe and sound. Our drive was only 3 hours coming home...much better conditions. cheerio !

Hi, I was going to write & ask you about your first fill , glad that you put it on . I have heard some real horror stories about fills. So I was kinda scared about that . Did it hurt any ? It says in the booklets that Dr S gave me , that sometimes they numb the area first . I am not afraid of needles as I am am insulin dependant diabetic. So, you were OK with it ? Could you feel it going in ? I am just being curious. Oh & How long did it take ?
Yes, Merry Christmas to YOU !!!
When Dr. B. tried he did not freeze it...but the radiologist does. That way if he has to poke around, it's guilt free on his part. It hurt a little but nother major. You can't feel the saline filling the band. It only takes a few minutes the way Dr. B does it, but because we had to go to Fluro, it took about 30 mins. It wouldn't deter me from going back. Its just a procedure. I've had alot worse.
