Booklet vs advice
I am confused!! I was thinking I will ask for the bypass as opposed to the lapband and was reading for the umteenth time both booklets given to me by the clinic. It just dawned on me there is a huge descreptiency between what they tell you and what is in the booklet. They say lapband or bypass no liquids with food. Either half hour before of 1 hour after meals. The booklet menu lists milk along with meals and snacks. HUH?
Take your booklets with you when you go for paper signing. I know that Lise crossed some things out in my booklets. I think that is because the booklet, though informative is not the definitive source of information for patients of Dr. Beau. He does do some things differently based on his knowledge base, his experience and his beliefs about the surgery.
I made sure I took lots of notes. What I can tell you is no fluids a half hour before or an hour after meals. During the liquid phase milk is listed as a snack in the papers that Rinette gave me and that she went over with me.
I would suggest you write all your questions down and then leave a space after each question so that you can write the answer. That way later on you have your notes to refer to and you have direct and specific answers to your questions thus eliminating confusion.
I would rely on what they tell you more closely than the booklet.

Hi,
I have experienced the same thing with two different nutritionists. They don't have specific facts for the specific surgeries. I end up knowing more then they do about what nutrition needs I have.
Your weight loss of 300 pounds is really wonderful. And it has been 3 years already, which is fantastic. We were not done that far apart. It seems like just yesterday I find, what about you.
Do you feel like telling us more about it because I for one am amazed with anyones progress. The whole WLS thing is like a miracle for me. Do you find it harder 3 years out? Do you agree that you have to "diet"? We don't often hear from a RNYer who has walked the walk...can I convience you to tell us all more about it?
Take care,
C
