I need some help
Don't mean to sound so dire but it looks like I am on my way to being done within the next few months. I should be over the moon and don't get me wrong, I am. BUT I tried optifast once when a friend of mine was on a medically supervised liquid diet. I thought it was absolutely mind bogglingly gross. I know I should suck it up and drink it but I know I won't be able to do it. I've gone to the optifast web site and can't get much info on the ingredients. All they give is a vague general info. Please if anyone is on optifast or have a packet lying around, could you please write the ingredients list and the nutrition information from it. The reason is I want to find a suitable subsitute so when I meet with Dr. B. I will be able to show a suitable alternative instead of just saying I don't like optifast. I don't have the money to buy optifast and then not be able to drink it and have to buy something else anyway.
Hi, Glad you are on your way to a long healthy life. I just had my band implanted on December 2. I am doing very well and very happy with the process. Dr. Beau will offer you the option of using SlimFast instead of Optifast but feels that Optifast will do a better job of shrinking the liver. There is a real trick to using Optifast. It is simple and it does get easier. It must be very very very cold. I too**** to work with me in a thermos and then put ice in my water and let it sit for a while to chill the water as much as possible. Then I also used blender bottles available at GNC. It has a little wire wisk type ball in it that mixes things very nicely. No need to take a blender to work with me. At first I thought I would not be able to do it until Patsy G. who is on this forum told me to make sure it was really cold. Once I got the hang of that - I did fine. I did find the Optifast kind of constipating because there is no fiber listed in the ingredients. Rinette, Dr. Beau's dietician suggested a stool softener or Benefiber, mixed with the Optifast. I used Fiber Sure - same as Benefiber and it worked great. If you would like to send me a personal message with more questions please feel free to do so. I had a good experience with the Optifast and will try to help you in any way I can. However, you need to know if you absolutely can't do the Optifast, SlimFast or the WalMart version - Equate - is all the doctor will allow. If you search this forum in previous posts you will see that I have posted detailed descriptions of my experience thus far. Hope you can gain some info from those or contact me via personal message. We are all here to help and support each other. I have found great support and assistance on this forum. I know you will too.
