Has anyone on here had bypass surgery?

Most of the posters here seems to either be waiting for lapband or already had lapband. Has anyone on here had bypass surgery. I'd love to hear their experiences. Good, bad and ugly.

You are right, most of us are bandsters. Lori M has a bypas, why don't send her a private message? I think that Dr B has changed his policy re who can have a bypass to reflect the lastest research.

You may want to check the RnY forum on OH as well as the WLS Revisions forum and WLS Regrets for the "ugly" lol.

There are a few on here who have had their surgery - couple Rny like LoriM, for the DS there is Catherine, several for the Lapband and then a handful of us waiting for surgery (lapband and DS).

Michelle, are you planning lapband or bypass? I'm not very computer literateso how do I access that sit that you mentioned?

I am having the DS (duodenal switch) procedure with Dr Savoie this winter.

I had a DS 2.5 years ago.  It is a malabsorbtion surgery...like RNY, only more so.   There are two basic kinds of WLs....restrictive...like Gastric Sleeve or the Band.  Or Malabsorabtion like RNY and DS.

Look all 4 of these up and you will get a  much better understanding of what WLS options are out there.

The RNY has a very good track record provided the surgeon is accomplished...I believe both NB surgeons fall in that category.

It is a bit confusing at first...but once you sort out the 4 surgeries, and what the eating is like later, and what the surgery has for pros and cons...it will become much clearing what surgery you want.

They ALL have pros and cons..
