called Dr B's office today
Hi,
Since Dr. B seems to be really strict on weight lost before surgery- I wouldn't go completely off the wagon in case of a cancellation (you never know!). This said my dear; you are human like everyone else on this board and its Christmas so if you feel like eating a cookie- eat the darn cookie and enjoy every crumb of it.
Every one is different and every surgeon is different. Some surgeons don't even require a pre op diet and do not even care if you lose weight before surgery. These surgeons like Dr. Beausoleil have had many successful band patients. It seems that Dr. B wants to ensure his patients are commitment 100% before he performs the surgery so I wouldn’t fall off the wagon too much for sure because you’ll be kicking your butt later when you’re postponed or when you are working to lose that gained weight.

Dr. Beausoliel's office called me this afternoon and booked my consent signing for the second week in January and she said I may fave surgery as early as February. Needless to say I am toooo excited. I was so excited when she called that I forgot to ask her some questions and had to call her back. LOL I wonder if that happens often?
Hey folks, I was venting!! I was angry about being told that I wouldn't be on the list until February. That was the focus of the post from my perspective,
I have to admitt that I have been struggling with the diet, with all the Christmas dinners. I have been quite successful with not eating all the sweets at work- not perfect, but very very good. My problem has been all the parties that are full meals or in restaurants. I have not lost but for the seaon where most people gain an average of 8 to 10 pound, staying even is fine with me. If I get a call, I will fast to make sure I don't get rejected. As for Christmas day, I am going to have the usually Christmas dinner, minus the potatoes and sugary cranberry sauce. I am making pie and cheesecake for dessert....with splenda. I am also not baking any other sweets. I also plan to use a small plate. For breakfast, we have quiche and homemade toast - I plan to make a separate quiche for me with less cheese and only a small amount of bacon and extra veggies.
I am focusing on eating well, but I am not avoiding those foods (like pop) that will be prohibited post band. In that respect, I am only having one liquid meal per day to prepare for the Optifast. I have had to give up almost everything in my diet for years at a time, without the benefit of preparing for it. I am not in the least bit worried about giving up pop or anything else post-op without doing it now. The only thing I am concerned about is being able to handle the liquid diet when I am not in hospital.
By the way, I am still pissed about being told that I may not be on the list until February.
My world does not revolve around what I will do if I get a call re a cancellation. I wouldn't go this close to Christmas anyway. If Nathalie told me the right info about his schedule, Dr B doesn't have any surgeries between Christmas and New Years.

Congratulations mona gray. You must be so excited!! Charlene, after wait this long February isn't too far away. I've been waiting for more than 3 years so a few months is nothing by comparison. Looks like you and I will be done around the same time. She told me it may be as soon as February too. Even if she had said May I'd be just as excited.
I am planning on enjoying Christmas dinner, potatoes and all. I don't make or eat sweets anyway but I will have 2 potatoes and will feel absolutely no guilt. Most likely I will not be able to next year. Pop is my downfall.
