I bought a Bullet at Canadian Tire last week because I read alot about them on the lap band board.  I have not tried it yet.  How is it different from a blender or a food processor?

Hey Charline,

Well too tell you the truth, it is sort of like a blender, grinder, and food processor all in one. My favorite part about it is that you can make individual servings because of the single cups you can use. I didn't own a blender or processor so it works for me!

Hello everyone:

I have been away from this forum for almost a year as I have been busy with my youngest son who just went through two major operations one back in may of this year in Montreal on his chest and then we had to go back to Montreal in September as he had a spinal fusion done from the top of his neck well T-2 right down to his L-2 near his tail bone and they inserted 2 titanium rods in his spine.  I had been out of work for over 6 months which was hard and with no pay even harder.  He is now on the road to recovery with both operations however he was just diagnosed with Marfans Syndrome which affects both the heart and eyes as well as other organs...so needless to say I have been very stressed and waiting for tests to come back on this and then our next step will be to go to Halifax to the Heart center for his Marfans.  I was reading on some of the posts about this new doctor Dr Savoie.  I am on the list with Dr B for 3 years now and I did call his office when I had found out that the lapband is now covered by medicare and they told me that I was bumped down on the list because there had been people waiting for the lapband and they were moved up closer to the top which is great...they couldn't tell me what number I was as it had changed so I think I am going to call them back tomorrow and see if they can just put me on the lapband list only and not the gastric bypass.  A friend of mine is getting the lapband tomorrow morning at 9:45 and he has been on the list as long as I have but in September of this year he called Dr. B's office and asked them to put him on the lapband list and within a week or so later he received a call to go and sign papers that is pretty quick I would say.  So I am hoping it will move quicker for me as well.  I was also wondering if there is still a long wait to see Dr. B how would I get in contact with Dr Savoie's office or what is his process can I get the referral sent to them from Dr. B's office or would I have to go back to my family doctor...and does anyone hove Dr. Savoie's office number?

I have been loosing weight I have gone from 314lbs and I am now 286 but have a long way to go yet.  Good luck to everyone and can't wait to hear back from someone.

Beth

Hi Beth,
Pleased to meet you. I have been waiting for WLS for about 5 years. Most of that time was waiting to see the endocrinologist (never did get that appointment), before the rules changed. I have had my consult, information session, and consent signing. I expect to have surgery by the end of January.
I am so sorry to hear about your son's health problems. It must be so hard to deal with.  What is his name, so I can remember him in my prayers?
I have to ask- where the &^%$# is Willow Grove?  If it is anywhere near Fredericton, you will have to join us when our support group meets in January. Jus****ch this board for a time and place.
Dr Marc Savoie is in Bathurst and you can have your doctor send him a copy of the referral that was sent to Dr Beau. Just go with who gets you in first. If you want Dr Beau, we have learned that it pays to be a squeekie wheel by contacting his office often.
Hope to see you here ofgten (it's a really great bunch!)
Charline W.

Hello Charline:

Thank you for responding, my sons ame is Brandon he just turned 16 in October and thank you for the prayers there has been lots going around for him and the circle of prayer does work wonders.  Willow Grove is actually just in the outskirts of Saint John just past the airport towards St. Martins, but yes I would love to get up to one of the gatherings to meet some fellow WLS.  I have been to a Endocrinologist and saw Dr. Dornan for a year  and then found out you don't need to see one now for the surgery.  I will be going to see my family doctor soon and will get her to also send a letter to his office as well, but tomorrow well this morning I am going to call Dr. Beausolie's office and see about the lapband list and where I am on the wait list.  I hope to get this done sooner then later as it is so frustrating feeling this way and trying to loose weight now has not been the easiest mind you I have not gained anything back but I am sort of at a stand still.  Ball will be rolling tomorrow and I will certianly post as to my results on the phone on here to let you guys know.  I am at work now I work the overnight shift and wor****il 7am from 11pm monday to friday with the weekends off.

I have lots of reading and catching up on here to do so that will make my night go by faster thank goodness.

Take care and hope to hear from you soon

Beth
