I've been a bad girl

Ok so I have been super good since my return from Scotland- not one slip. I passed up coffee cake and choclolate cake with signs that said help yourself. No problem. I have nor been snacking at all.
I have been having a shake for lunch every day and I have lost the 2 pounds I gained on vacation plus almost 3 more. So today I was leaving work on the way to the gym. A co-worker had made Biscotti that made with Splenda. i figured I needed a some calories before my work out. Well, as soon as I had the biscotti I became very very hungry. I did my work out and had raspberries on the way home because I was so hungry. I ate supper and had my usual "dessert"- 2 rice cakes with a little nuttello. Well tonight I could not stop until I was out of rice cakes. Now I am over full and uncomfortable. I am having a hard time not beating myself up for over doing it. I know that the only thing to do is start over and watch what I eat.  Here is what I am wondering- since this hunger started with the Biscotti, is it possible that something in it triggered the reaction?  Has anyone ever heard of white flour doing something like this?  In e eat right for ypur type diet, I am not supposed to eat white flour. Do you suppose that is what happened?   I figure thatwe, as agroup, know more about diet that any doctor or dietitian out there!

The white flour is a carb which immediately turns to sugar, which immediately turns to sugar and burns off immediately and leave you hungry.  that's why all diets say no white flour, rice, bread, etc.  it can leave you hungry all day.  Carbs make you crave more carbs,  they are satan...I
love carbs and have trouble with this one, but necessary.  oh yeah white potato too.
sorry you had a bad day but tomorrow is a new day!!!! you go girl.

Thanks Patsy.
It is so hard to just let it go and start over, That is one of the reasons I have failed in the past.
I know what you are saying about the carbs, but this was different. It is like what happened after going to a country where they don't use dairy products and I returned to canada and had milk. I reallized that I am lactose intolerant! When I had the biscotti, I was hungry, really hungry before I even finished eating it and I wanted more and more. I stayed hungry until I had over eaten. That is why I was wondering about the white flour.

Wow Charline - Have we all bin thur, dun that, bot the tshirt, wore it out, bot 'nuther one.  It is one of the big reasons we are here.  The Satanic, vicious, diabolical CARB CRAVE ha**** you smack dab in the part of your brain that does not know what to do other than to eat eat eat.  This is a normal reaction and you can beat it.  But you have to be smarter than the carbs.

First thing is don't beat up on yourself.  You have done nothing wrong.  Second thing is go for a long walk, make an extra trip to the gym, go to the pool - do something, anything to be physical so you can burn off some of those calories.  Thirdly go back at the plan you have been using  first thing Saturday, this plan has been working for you so well.  You know it works and paper signing is just ahead and you need to weigh less so more activity and less calories is the only way to do that.  Also try to focus on proteins- eat them with any carb you may have; cheese or nuts with a piece of fruit, meat or fish with veggies high in carbs.  Increase your water intake too.  Sometimes a crave is triggered by thirst.  Before you succumb to hunger by eating always try to satisfy it with water.  The human brain has a difficult time distinguishing hunger from thirst.  And lastly just say to yourself - Charline, that was just a "one of", an anomaly.  This little slip is not who I am, it does not define me and I am strong enough to overcome it.

You can do this Charline.  Sitting here - where I am now, knowing what it  was like to do the Optifast for 2 weeks straight - I know you can get past a slip at the end of a week of trying so hard and doing so well.

Hang in there girl.  It won't be long now.

I have a closet ful,l of those t-shirts!!  I have to say this time was more....dramatic than before. I was craving before I finished the biscotti. Can it be the sugan when it was made with Splenda?  I the Eat Right for you Type diet, I am not supposed to eat white flour or oranges and this had both and neither of which were in my diet for a week. I don't know if that is it or not, but I dropped 1.6 pounds this morning!!  Go figure......so this morning I just get nright back up there on that old horse or wagon depending onwhich saying you prefer and keep on trucking!!

The irony is I am giving a talk at our support group today about making good choices throught the holiday season!!!!   Kind of like the fox lecturing the chickens about coup security!!!

Not at all.  you will be speaking from experience and sharing what you know with people who are interested in hearing what you have to say.  Whatever the trigger was, its done - over - finished and you have started back on track right away and did not let it become a week long binge.  That is something you can share as well - that we all have mis-steps but they don't have to take us completely off the path.  They can be little staggers in a long march.

The fact that you were still down this morning means maybe you got lucky and your body still burned calories after your workout and so the carbs didn't do as much damage as you thought.

Have a great meeting today.  I hope once I am back to my old self that I can come to one of your meetings.  I would love to meet everyone and spend time with all of you.
