Just Ann please,  I only allow one person to call me Annie and its not even my husband.  However Banded Ann is back.  SORE and exhausted but back.  I will not lie - it hurts.  Only one incision - the port incision is sore the others are really small and dont hurt to speak of.  The gas they use to expand the abdominal cavity is what hurts the most.  It was very painful last night but its better this morning.  I only sipped water yesterday when I got home.  I have only had a couple of sips of water today thus far but its only 6:30.  I slept in my recliner chair last nite due to the gas pain.  For a while the pain did what they say it does and went to my left shoulder but on the ride home it migrated to my abdomen where it has settled and is making me uncomfortable.  Tonite or maybe even this afternoon I think my bed will call my name.  I was a bit nauseous last evening so I took a quarter of a gravol and that helped me to sleep.  The old saying "it only hurts when I laugh" is almost true, it should be "it only hurts when I cough".  Because it does hurt to cough.  I cannot stress enough that you use the little practice breathing machine before surgery and after.
I will update again when I am able to sit here a bit longer.  Right now I just want to go rest again.  I am fine and thanks to everyone who posted good wishes. I am fine and this is the right thing for me.  Thanks everyone for all your support.
Ann

Ann!

So happy to hear that things went well. Keep the faith- according to everyone the pain only lasts 3-5 days and then you begin feeling like yourself again!

You're in my thoughts!

3 Cheers for Ann!
The pain will get better day by day. In the mean time I hope they gave you good drugs!!! Use them to stay ahead of the pain. They are no prizes for being a hero when it comes to post-op pain.
I'll be sliding into the loosers bench right behind you!
Take very good care of yourself.

So glad things went well for you. I was thinking about you all weekend knowing the big day was fast approaching.  Get some rest and everything else will come. It will be so interesting reading your updates and accomplishments in the months to come. Hang in there.

Thanks everyone.  I really am doing fine.  Just really want to sleep right now.  He gave me dalaudid (sp) but I haven't taken one.  On a scale of 1 to 10 with 8 requiring medication I would say I am about at a 5 or 6.  So I am just taking it as is comes.  If it should get worse I have meds but so far I haven't needed it.  I will keep checking in between naps.  I think with every little nap I feel better.  I am just going to have some diluted apple juice for a late breakfast.  then some water for a snack - my goodness this is exciting I havent had applejuice in months.  Oh and I am planning consume for lunch woo hooo.

Remember to keep moving...that's the only thing to get rid of the gas. and you need to keep your strength up.  My upper back got really weak after sitting for a few days.  Made it difficult to stand up straight because you are favouring your incisions plus your back muscles get weak.  So keep moving.    Damn that port incision!  it is the one that hurts and will for a few more weeks.  Sorry for the Annie thing...won't do that again !  I feel the same way when someone calls me Pattie...I'm not pattie !  Have a good day.  Patsy
