Weekly Weigh In

For those waiting for my results this week...I didn't get to WW due to the massive amount of snow that fell here.  So by next week it should be a good loss.  on my scales I'm not down much if anything and somewhat discouraged but told that this is normal.  I'm in Bandster hell.  I have a band, but ti's not doing much for me right now.  I'm watching what I eat and eating small portions but takes time to lose the weight.  Once I get a fill or two, the weight will drop a big faster.   Enjoy the Optifast stage and liquid stage cause you lost alot during those times.  and then it stops !!!!!  As much as I was tired of the Optifast, I think I could handle one more week !!!!  he he he he he !

Hang in there Patsy, bandster hell is not easy. Just get through it and don't worry about the weight loss. I know you are watching what you eat, so it will happen.

Hang in there Patsy my friend.  If you can do Optifast and liquids you can do this.  You are my inspiration and you are a solid rock on this forum.  If you need help, if you have an urge you are having trouble ignoring, post here, I know everyone will type to you for support.

My question is if you have no restriction, could you (though I know you wouldnt)eat anything and everything you did before surgery?  Are you having to chew chew chew or are you just practicing the lifestyle until you get your fill and hopefully some restriction?

To answer your questions... I probably could eat more than I do, but I don't.  At first I think I was eating a bit too much but not now.  It made me feel horribly full.  I try to eat slow and chew well in preparation for the fill.  but right now, I'm running on will power !!!!!!!!!!!!   I'm waiting patiently for the phone to right.

Well I'll tell ya, I think Optifast and liquids, aside from their primary purpose, must have the secondary purpose of building will power.  There have been a couple of days when I could kill for food - real food.  Yesterday my coworker cracked open a clementine and it was all I could do to keep from running over to her, knocking her on the head and stealing the darn thing.  I love clementines and its that time of year when clementines are readily available. Oh my goodness my coworker does not know how close she came to death!  But I hang in there, eyes on the prize and all that.  Funny I didn't feel the same way about the chocolate she was eating last week. You know you are in doin' somethin' right when you are craving fruit and veg instead of junk.

Nahhhh I guess I really wouldn't have killed her but oh my gosh that clementine smelled so good it made me salivate.  And today in the stores - I passed by a display of Terry's chocolate oranges - one of my favourite Christmas treats and I had to turn my head, I wanted to cry but I smiled instead.  My life is changing in so many ways on so many levels and that one little thing made me kind of sad.  However I was so proud of myself for not grabbing one and eating it all alone in my car. The only person who would have known would have been me but then I worried about my liver, it has to be nice and small for the Doctor so - bye bye Chocolate Oranges and mix me another Optifast.  nummmmmmm

I wonder if you could put in a couple of drops of orange extract so at least that you could get a chocolate-orange flavoured taste to help you get through the Optifast days. *hugs*

You are doing amazing girl! You lost 67lbs before your surgery. 67 pounds! That's a heck of a lot to do on your own. Know that you rock, and that you're going to do this. *hugs*

I also read on one of the other forum pages that it's quite common to gain a bit after surgery and this is due to the body being dehydrated during surgery, and also because you're starting to eat now, so your body is taking every fluid that it can, and was probably burnign off all of it's glucose stores. Now that you're eating, food is heavier, plus your body is turning over to burn off fat. instead of weighing  yourself, measure yourself and i'm sure that you may notice a difference there instead of looking at the numbers that won't budge on the scale. Also too, alot of people only notice that the scale budges at the end of the month because the body is so busy fighting off loosing weight for the first half of the month. :-)
