Hey Gals!

So I went to my Doctor's appointment on Thursday for my test results, the good news is that I don't appear to be a full blown diabetic (YET). My sugar was in the 6's.

My family doctor had received a report from Dr. S stating i was approved for surgery and was getting the surgery soon.

She told me she would wait until after the surgery to get me checked again with the real sugar test since she seems to think it will  go away once I get the surgery.

I was so surprised at how happy she was about my surgery, she referred me immediatly of course but when she found out i was getting done soon she was estastic!

She even told me that she wanted to see me 2 week after my surgery to hear all about it (and to check my sugar levels)! Right before I left she was like I'm so happy for you and I know you will be successful.

It feels good when your doctor cares...you know?

Dr B told me that I could stop taking insullin (3X day) when I start the liquid diet and that I may never have to take it again!!  For you, I am willing to bet that you will never develop the dreaded disease! My pancreas is equivillant to a 90 year old alcoholic's, and it is not clear if I am type one or two or a combination of both. So I am not banking on not resuming the insullin; once a day would thrill me.

This is wonderful news for you!!!  You are most fortunate to have a family doctor who is so supportive of you. My doctor is also very supportive of the process.  My previous doctor, who has retired, referred me and when I got my consultation, I went to my new doctor and asked her if she would support my decision to have the surgery and she was very positive.  She said she was sure it would be a good move for me and that I would be successful.  She too wants me to keep her posted.  I will be seeing her for a regular visit after my surgery and she is eager to hear all about it.   It means a lot to have the professional support as well as the support of family and your friends.

This is just proof postivie that over time Dr's are becoming more supportive.  I beleive this is because the Surgeries have improved so much over the last few years.

So for all you folks out there hearing horror stories...or having familys who are so scared for you...take note of all these Dr.s who are keen on this solution!

Take Care,
C

DS Surgery June 2006,  Been fine every since.  Weight stays the same. Rarely remember I had surgery.....except for the daily vitamins.
