How long did it take?

You gals are good!

Suggest  you try doing the work for the poor  overworked thing   and make a copy, and go to the office, and sweet as pie,      ask her to sign it so you can forward it on.  If she stalls, just stand there and again...in all your sweetness...ask to see the Dr..you can wait.  Tell them you have talked to the Drs and they are expecting this referal, and you hate to cause them problems...but with the specalists waiting...you need it now.

I agree that the waiting list is going to grow very quickly at the Dr. S office...just take a look into the other provinces forums...they are looking for a DS surgeon.  Word is going to get out.  I was on the close provinces posting a note to invite anyone on the borders to our dinner once a month...and was surprised to see people trawling for a DS Dr.

Then there are the people who have been waiting years...they are now jumping onto the two lists...as one would do...and looking to cut down the years of wait.  It only makes sense.

take care,

I sent another fax to my Dr's office.  Obviously the letter won't be sent this week since they aren't even answering the phones.  I confirmed with Dr. Savoie's office that I could get in to see him within 2 weeks of them receiving the letter of referral...which is very frustrating because I could have been there already.

Someone tell me that I'm not frustrated for nothing!!

I'd make an appointment for a flu shot !  get in front of the doctor and tell him exactly what's been going on and what you would like him to do.  Take the letter with you, get him to sign it and fax it yourself if you have to.   He needs to understand the need to get in before the line gets too long.

Hahhahahahaha!!!

My mother has a flu shot appointment with the Dr late this week or early next week.  She is going to ask where the letters are and is going to tell them that Dr. Savoie is waiting for them so they can get me an appointment.

Hopefully this will work.  I will keep you posted!

By the way, someone mentioned Medic Alert bracelets, I have a trophy shop and engrave all kind of things.  We also do printing on metal.  I've been working on forming metal into pendants so I can print on them and I am currently looking to find some affordable bracelets that I can provide for people who have had wls.  If anyone sees anything, please let me know.

Sometimes a mother can move mountains.  I hope she goes in there loaded for bear!  This entire thing is ridiculous.  I know doctors in this province are busy and there are not enough to go around but how hard is it to fax a couple pieces of paper?  As a person who has experienced inappropriate behaviour and discrimination on the part of someone who has no respect for a person of size, it makes me wonder if this woman is not doing this subconsciously due to her preconceptions about people of size.  Either that or she is the most inefficient office staff I have ever heard of.  I work in an office where deadlines and timeframes are important and if you neglect something that is important to someone else just because it is not important to you - well you are called to task about it.  If you mother cannot get anything out of them due to the fact that they should not be discussing your case with anyone else not even your mother, then as others have suggested I would, if I were you, present myself at the office (take the day off if you have to) and don't leave until she does her job and faxes your papers.  I will keep good thoughts for you and hope that you will see some action soon.  The waiting is the hardest part.  At least we are all in the same boat, or a lot of little boats, rowing in the same direction and we can support each other as much as we can.  Keep positive and be strong, we are here for you.

Thanks gang!  I feel better after having ranted for the past hours.  My mother is also waiting for her referral letter and even though she saw the Dr. 3 weeks ago, her letter hasn't been sent in either, so we're attacking from both sides.  I have another appointment with the Dr on November 18th and if the letter hasn't been sent you can bet whatever you want that it will be shortly after my visit.
