Today I got to take my bandages off.  I probably was supposed to take them off earlier but I thought it was three days but the book says day 1 or 2 post op.  oh well.  they are off and now i can get a shower.  how exciting.  it's  the small things that make you feel so good !!!!!

for those who wanna know, one incision has one staple, one incision has 5 staples and 3 of them have 3 staples.  The biggest one is the port one.  He tells you in your appointment that he always put the port of the left. And he did !

Today was huge, I ate jello. I chewed every bit of it.  I haven't chewed in so long I thought I would forget how.  Man, Jello is gourmet.  So is consomme.  mmmmmmmmmmmmm (and I mean it).

Hey Patsy! Great to hear you are doing so well and that you are in such great spirits.  Thanks so much for sharing your experience with the forum.  It means a lot to have all the mystery taken away by someone who is living it first hand.  Chewing Jello -hmm I can hardly wait.  Really, it will be thrilling to follow in your footsteps.

Hey you.  I don't feel gipped.  I'm glad I don't have too many to remove!!!!  No i can't feel the port but i haven't pressed around there too much.  Still nervous of making more pain.  I'm hungry tonight.  I have to get more protein in me.  Maybe some soup.  I did drink one of my pre surgery shakes today to help with the protein.  Congrats on getting the staples out this week. That's a big step in my books.  the next big step will be mushie food and then real food.  yehawwwww!!!
I'm doing very good though.  Very pleased with my progress.  I plan on enjoying the next 3 weeks away from work !   Patsy

You sound like you are coming right along!  It amazing how wonderful consume and jello can taste, isn't it? I was fed interveniously for 6 weeks when I had pancreatitus and the first time I had consume, it was quite possibly the best thing I had ever eaten!! The first time I had jello, I thought it was too rich because the taste was so strong. I guess it is all a matter of perception.
Three questions.1- Do you know why he recommended 3 weeks for you? He told me 2 weeks off.
2-Did he tell you to avoid lifting? If so for how long? 3-How long before the staples come out?

No don't misunderstand.  He gave me a doctors note for 2 weeks.  I'm taking 3.  My choice.  All written information does say to avoid lifting for I think it says 6 weeks.  Lifting and pushing.  The staples come out at the 3 week mark.  So I go back on Nov. 13.  Right before I go back to work.  He says 3 weeks to staple removal and 6-8 weeks until first fill.  So mine should be just before Christmas.  He waits that long for the first fill to make sure he incision is completely healed so that when he injects the saline he's not pushing infection into the port.  He's very cautious.  Which I like.
Happy to answer any questions that I know the answers to.
