 Hi, everyone...

Some details of my visit:
1. He is a very nice man - easy to talk with.
2. He has done a dozen Lap Band procedures (training), but thousands of the duodenal switch - a much more complicated surgery.
3. Of the two surgeries we discussed, we talked more about the Lap, and said it was more suited to me - and well, I wouldn't want the other done at all anyway!
4. He said that he's starting surgeries in late December, early January, and told me that it might be April before I went in - though he really couldn't be sure, as his office isn't completely set up yet.

If I can think of anything else, I'll add to this!

Wow!  A NB surgeon does the BPD/DS...the rest of the provinces are sure going to be jealous!  I am so excited.  I had this surgery, and it went just absolutely perfect...but when I look in Canada...it is almost impossible to get this done.

So NB is very very lucky!

Did Dr S say anything about age and doing the DS?

 Hi, Charline -
No, sorry...we didn't really get too far into a discussion about that surgery because I let him know right off that I wasn't interested.

- maybe someone else can answer that?

Hey Anita,
Good to hear- do you know if he's just starting lap band later? He told me I would be done in late dec, early january but I think when I saw him it was his first day for consults so that may be why. I'm getting my sleep apnea done next week. I was able to get my sleep apnea quick because I'm already a patient of a lung specialist due to my asthma.

he is a very nice- you're journey has begun!!
HIGH FIVE!

 Hi, ST.
I'm not sure he differentiated between when he was doing Lap vs DS.  What he said was that he would *like* to get started in late December, early January, and that he currently has about 20 people on his list.   According to this, I would be in maybe in April...but he couldn't be sure, and added that it might be earlier than that.  I think it would be difficult to make a good estimate based on the fact that not everything is set up the way he needs it to be, yet.

Yeah that's what I figured. I should be pretty early on the list because I seen him on his first day. Probably he's looking at his list and estimating but it could all depend on many things, like OR avaliability and what not!

Good for you though- april is better than 2011.

:P

Did you happen to ask what size band  he puts in?

I did, and he said that it's really a "technical" matter, and they make that decision during the procedure; there are no hard and fast rules until he gets a look.

I did forget to ask him about fills, though.  I wonder if there is anyone at the DECH in Fredericton who does them...?

Interesting!

I asked about fills and he told me that Dr. B in moncton is too busy to do fills, and if I could find someone to do them, I could get them somewhere's else but by the looks of it, I would  have to go to bathurst each time.
