How many Optifast drink do you have to take a day? How much it cost exactly for the 2 weeks pre-op?

Thanks

They put you on 4 shakes a day.  It's $220 for the 2 weeks.  If you can't afford it they will give you an option of slimfast or similar but not quite as effective.  the chocolate optifast is pretty tasty.

The online info says 3 shakes plus 255 calories of low carb veggies. Does Dr B allow the veggies?

They only prescribe 4 shakes a day and NO food at all.  I don't read the sites and other info, I only go by what that very specifically told me to do.  I do miss food !!!!

I was in today for the results of my preadmission tests and everythings a go.  I'm being done next Friday for sure.  One thing Lise said over and over again is to continue on the shakes and absolutely nothing else...NOTHING.    They are very serious about their stuff.  Someone here mentioned 800 calories a day but mine is called Optifast 900 which means it's 900 calories a day.  I was down 8 lbs today at WW and 6 at the clinic.  I was very pleased after one week of optifast.  She said I should lose another 5 or 6 this week.  They don't weigh me next week prior to surgery unless I want them to but since my surgery is so early in the morning, no one would be there to weigh me anyway.  I'll to go WW on Thursday and that will give me a pretty good idea.  Only 6 more days of shakes !!!!!!!!!!!!!!  woo hoo.

Oh how wonderful Patsy. I could only be happier if it were me. You have been so strong, a real inspiration. The next few days will fly by. Let us, your fans, know how it goes and how you are feeling.

Does anyone know if Optifast is covered by private health insurance?  Anyone out there have that experience? Just curious. Regards, Sugarbear

Great question. I was wondering the same thing. After all, it is only available by precription.

Good question ,  since its only by script , it should be covered by our insurance (Blue Cross) . I will have to look into that . Its not cheap stuff is it .
I wish you all the best on your surgery. When you feel up to it please let us know what went on & how you felt  etc.....I am so inquisitive  on what  is going to happen .
Thanks  & congrats.
