Just wanted to say hello.  My family doctor is writing my referral to Dr. Beausoleil.  I am happy I found this forum to express myself a bit with people who understand.  I am feeling overwhelmed and frustrated at the moment.  I have no idea how long it will be until my first appointment with Dr. Beausoleil but I am keeping my hopes up that it won't be too many years before I can ride a bike with my 4 year old son and my 2 year old daughter.

I have to say that the whole process is a bit scary to me.  Which procedure does Dr. Beausoleil do?  My family doctor said that he is the one who will decide which is best for me so I have to leave that to him I guess.  I've read a bunch of posts here and thank you for all the information you are sharing.

Welcome Charline!

There is lots of information here so be sure to do some research as that will help come time to discuss the surgery options and decide what will work best for you - the doctor will certainly add his professional opinion but you must live with the procedure for the rest of your life so is your decision.

Hope you will be able to make our next meeting too!  Great group online and now getting together to share stories, tips and support.

Welcome to another stage of the journey of healthy choices to a healthy life!

Thanks Michelle!

It's quite intimidating to see all the success stories on these boards to be honest.  I guess it's a bit of a shock as well to find so many people who have had the surgery and are waiting for it.

Keeping my fingers crossed and my eyes open!

Welcome! Love how you spell your name- the right way! Hee! Hee! You will find evreyone is absolutely wonderful here.
If you read back a few posts, you will see that there is a new doctor in the province. Dr Mark Savoie just opened his office is in Bathurst. He does not have a waiting list. If you want a lap band, you have to go to the same doctor for fills, so where you live might affect your decision. It is very hard to tell how long the wait is for Dr B, I have been waiting for 4 years and would still bewaiting another couple of years if th approval process had not changed. With the change in the approval process,
a new doctor in NB, and 2 new doctors in NS, it is very hard to guess what the waiting time for Dr B is. The office is still saying 5 years, but I really doubt it is that it is still that long.
This site is a great source of information, and great folks hang out here.

Charline, why don't you get referred over to the new doc? Sounds like people are getting into him and getting their surgery dates within a 2 month timeframe.
