5 YEARS!

I was speaking with Dr. B's office yesterday and she told me the wait time is 5 years...I thought that was old news!  How discouraging is that?  So the decision as to who to go to was easy to make and gave my GP Dr. Savoie's name as the preferred referral.  Now I just have to wait for him to actually do it.  He said he was going to do all the research and get back to me with my options and I quickly told him I had done the research and just needed the referral at this point.  I hope he heard me loud and clear.  I called Dr. S's office and you do need a referral for him as well.  I had read somewhere on the board that he may accept self referrals. I felt a little more comfortable going to Moncton since I lived there for 15 years and Dr B has done so many of these but I'm not willing to wait that long if there is a faster alternative.  Dr S is a surgeon and that's all that matters in the end.   My patience is very thin at this point!!!  I'm so anxious about doing this now that l've made the decision!

I really think they are still using the same old line. I was told that I would be done by Xmas and when I called the office Nathalie said I might get the info session in November. I think they are in the habit of exageration the wait times. However, if I were not a month or 2 away from my surgery I would get a referal to the Dr in Bathurst.

Thanks, that's what I think, too, Charline.  I've decided to go ahead with Dr Savoie anyway!  It has to be quicker regardless.  Now if I can just get my GP to actually send the referral. I was thinking today that I may call Dr Savoies office and get his fax number and then call my GP with it so he can fax the referral.  That way I'm keeping him on his toes about actually doing the deed and letting him know that I'm waiting anxiously!

You have to be proactive with today's doctors. They are too busy, so good for you.
