Is anyone here going to be at Dr. Beau's September 30th information session?  i am excited and nervous.  Will they weigh me that day?  I am being considered for Lap Band surgery.  Apparently I am too old for By Pass,  I just turned 55 this past April but the doctor won't By Pass on anyone over 55.  I have been waiting for over 4 years for this to come together, too bad I got too old while I was waiting.

I have been waiting 4 years too and I turn 55 in January. I don,t jhave a choice either, but I want the band because it is a much healthier option.  I am still number 10 on the waiting list.   Wish I could join you, Congrats for FINALLY getting THE call!

Yes they will weigh you that day, and every time you go for an appointment.  If at any time you gain, it slows down your progress through the system.  It's a great session.  I just did mine this week and it was very beneficial.  What a great team of experts. Good luck on the 30th.

Well I guess I will have to get on the treadmill.  Just after my initial consultation in June, I kind of went on a "last meal" bender.  I have it under control now and have lost most of what I had gained.  I will have no problem losing the rest between now and the 30th.  I have given up carbonated drinks all together.  I had a serious Perrier habit but haven't had any since the end of June.  I also am drinking lots of water but I no longer drink with my meals.  I figure if I start trying to incorporate some of the changes now, it will be less stressful later on.
Thanks for the responses,
Ann

Be careful, if you haven't lost weight the next time you weigh in they may postpone your surgery. I think incorporating some of the changes now it a brillant  idea. I will remember that for my turn.

I am confident that I will have lost weight.  That's the thing you see.  I am really good at dropping weight in bursts.  I just can't sustain it for long periods of time.  I didn't gain much and I have lost most of it so I think I will be okay.  If not well then I will have to own my gain and if I get postponed I have nobody to blame but myself.  I am doing really well though.  Making good food choices and trying to drink lots of water and exercise more.  The exercise thing is an issue right now.  I have a heel spur that is acting up but I am hobbling along nonetheless.  I am trying to be thoughtful about all of this so that when the time comes, it won't be so hard.
Thanks for the encouragement and your response.
Ann
