Hi Krista : Do you know if everyone has been notified about the information session? I saw Dr. B on June 30/08 and he said they were going to organize a session in English soon. How long have you known about this session on Aug.12 and do you know how often they have sessions ? Hope they call me too , I,ve been waiting 6 years already. Any info you can give helps us all with the timeline. Thanks

When I called a few weeks ago, I believe that they had already contacted the people for all session up to October. Do you know where you are on the waiting list?

They do sessions every 2 months for about 10 participants. I am # 20 on the wait list so my session will be in December, unless a lot of people change there mind or were done elsewhere. I haven;t seen the good Doctor so you must be lower down on the list than I am.

thanks Charline that info. helps , the dr. was so busy the day i was there i should have wriitten down my questions he did say i should be done in 6 months though and i would have 4 more trips to moncton before the big day. if they have already booked info. sessions up to October it doesn't look like i will be done by Christmas. There doesn"t seem to be any rhyme nor reason to the system. people who have health problems and who are middle aged should be given priority but thats are system .... stand in line and hurry up and wait your turn. Oh well I'm ranting again. He also said the band has a 20% failure rate whereas i had read only 10 % on the net. Things like slippage and port failure are common . Oh well he said he could fix those things easily so thats good .thanks again. Steve

I was told that they have not called the people for October yet. Why don't you call and ask where you are on the list? You should be able to judge from that whether you are October or December. If you do, let me know your number. Maybe it can help me figure out when I will see the doctor.

Not at all sorry! I believe the people already know about this one as Lise told me there are 4 lapbander hopefuls in the group. I don't know how often they have them or the waiting list situation at all sorry. 6 years is a long time ... when I was on the list it was 3. Wishing you a quick turnaround!

Hi, I am new to this forum. I saw Dr. B. on June 30 as well. I am sure he said that I would be included in an information session sometime in September. He said between the appointment on June 30 and September I would have to have a gastroscopy because of a pre-existing condition but he was confident that I am an excellent candidate for Lap Band Surgery. He said after the information session there would be a few more visits for testing and signing of forms etc and that he felt I would have surgery sometime in December so long as I do not gain weight in that time and actually lose weight. I was told by both the doctor and his nurse that if I gain weight at any stage along the way, surgery would be postponed until I could show commitment through weight loss. I have been waiting for over 4 years since my initial referral by my family doctor who has since retired and so the call for the appointment was so surprising. I had given up all hope of ever getting in to see someone. Even so the long wait has put me out of consideration for a bypass due to the fact that I am now 55 and "too old" for bypass surgery. I have been doing a lot of research and reading and soul searching and will continue to do so right up until I am asked to sign consent forms. My husband is supporting me no matter what I decide. I have contacted a mental health professional that I have seen in the past to help me work through my fears and to figure out if I am up to this major life change. She knows me very well and feels that based on the way I am talking that I am leaning seriously in the direction of surgery. She is probably right but I just want to make sure that I don't do this on a whim and waste the doctor's valuable time and mine by doing it and then not following through. I am so glad I found this site and I hope that I can get the information I need and maybe even help someone else along the way.
