Still in a fair bit of pain, but I'm alive and glad the wait is finally over. The nurses were fantastic. Good luck to everyone on the list.

Well good for you Jay - I have been seeing your posts for sometime now and have been wondering what was up with you. I had Lap RNY by Dr. Beausoloeil on April 17 and am doing great. I don't know if you visit the message board for Lap Banders on this site - but you should. I have found the RNY message board to be a huge source of support and info for me. (I live in rural Newfoundland). Congratulations and take care!

Congratulations!! Of course I am green with envy, but my turn is coming!! I hope you are feeling better soon. So what happens when you finally get a call from the doctor's office? What is the process? At what point do you get the final yes or no from the doctor? Again congrats!!!!! Keep us posted.

Everyone is different. In my case, I got a call from the office then I had to go on a diet for 6 months that they monitored, then I had to get referred from him to an Internist who writes to medicare, then they decide whether to approve or deny you and then the surgeon tells you from there. It was a 4 year process for me.

The whole recommrndation to Medicare by the internist part is now skipped. Dr B decides if you qualify or not. When it changed earlier this year I was still waiting to see the internist. What I want to know is, if you skip the internist, what else happens before surgery?

Oh. Well after that, it was a matter of waiting to be scheduled for the day long info session and losing/keeping some weight off before the surgery. Bloodwork, ECG, stuff like that a couple weeks before the big day. That's about it.
