help

Hi im new to the island and i know that this is for new brunswick but i was wondering if anyone could help me out it seems that the board for the island is not in use that much or not at all i was wondering if anyone knows if gastric bypass surgery is done on the island or if the island will pay for it even i was orginally from ontario and ohip would pay for you to go to the states if you met requirements i was wonder where you can have the surgery preformed out here any answers are greatly appreciated Thanks debbie

Hi, I am from NB so I am not 100% sure what the Island gov't pays for, but I believe that they do fund WLS. I am quite sure they fund gastric bypass. I'm not sure about the lap band, but I think that is partly funded. In NB you have to pay for the device. Until a few days ago, I would have said that all the surgery is done by Dr Beausoleil in Moncton, but I have recently seen posts saying that surgery was done by another doctor in Halifax. I don't think that any of the Atlantic provinces pay for surgery in the US or in private clinics. Welcome to the have-not provinces. I would assume that your family doctor would know the referral process. The waiting list is years long. I will have a look on the message board and post some names from PEI for you to connect with.

Hi, I am not from the Island but I am in contact with two girls that had it done from there. They do fund it all but a small fee that has to be paid....I did know what it was but I forget. But contact Charity she will be able to help you Lori
