Hi Everyone, I am getting very excited..I met with my family doctor today..which has been 1 year after being referred to Dr Beausoleil. She talked about now needing an appt with Dr.Dornan the endocrinologist. Just wondering if anyone can give me timeframes of how long they waited after meeting with Dr Dornan(or another endocrinologist).

Welcome; I have been in the process for several years and am too still waiting for surgery. My journey began 4 years ago while we were posted in Oromocto,Nb.My family doctor was in Fredericton. She referred me to an endocrinologist and to Dr Beausoliel.I waited patiently to meet with the endocrinologist and Dr Beausoliel.Being new at all of this I thought the whole process would go relatively smooth. While waiting to see the endocrinologist which was nearly a years wait.I discovered that Dr Beausoliel has a few different waiting lists.A pre approved pile/general waiting list for consult.I was in the second pile because I hadn't been approved by the province for surgery this list is long I believe it was well over a 100 people at the time.Being a bit disappointed I still continued to wait patiently for my turn.I got approval from the province then my name was moved from one list to the other this was in Jan 06.The pre approved list was just as long as the last list but at least one step was gone.During this time my husband was posted again to Winnipeg MB.Again I had to get approval from the province to get the surgery thank heaven that I was able to do this right away.In Manitoba you get approval from your family doctor and in turn the doctor writes the province for approval..No need for an endocrinologist referral. June 2003 --> Family doctor referral to Dr Beasoliel and endocrinologist August 2004--> Finally endocrinologist appt(another waiting list) October 2004-->Provincial approval Jan 2006:Realized I could be shifted from on list to another because I had approval by province (I wish I new this earlier ) Jan 2006 to October 10th 2007: First Consult Dr Beausoliel (another waiting list) December 10/07--> Info Session(another waiting list) unknown date--->Contract Signing(another waiting list) Unknown date--> surgery pre check up/prep (another waiting list) unknown date--->Surgery ( another waiting list) This has been my experience.Hopefully this gives you some idea of the process and waiting times.I hope your process goes smoothly and moves quickly.Dr Beausoliel is doing all he can do and so is his staff .Its just very difficult when you are only one person and so many people requiring the procedure.I will admit the process has been very discouraging at times but thank heavens for this board that keeps me posted on whats going on. All the best.

I believe that it was about 3 years from the time I first met with the endo before I made it to the top of the list.
