Holy crap! that was fast!
So... I got a call today and I had to call back and leave a message, but Dr B's office is going to call me back to leave a time for my paper signing. It'll be on Dec 9th. I told them whatever time they want me there, I'll be there. I've had my info session but I'm a little fuzzy on the details again since it was a long day with very little sleep. What happens at the signing and then what happens after that point until the surgery? Anyone want to remind me?
Congratz jay!!!
Well what happened at my signing was I went in with the Dr. And he went over all the complications again, and I signed the paper. Told him I wanted the Gastric Bypass. Took about 15 mins and that was that. Oh of course the nurse takes you in first and weighs you, just like always. Then you wait for a surgery date.
They will call you give you a date. Then they will give you a date also for tests that you have 3 weeks before. You will have a blood test, heart test, x-ray, and I think that is it...besides a weigh in, and seeing the respitory therapist to get the little breathing machine you have to bring with you to the hospital when you have surgery(takes a few hours to get through it all) Oh on testing day you have to be admitted so you go to a differnt desk then you usually go to for appointments..... And the week before surgery you go and get weighed (5 min appointment there) to make sure you lost weight.
Then you just show up for surgery.....
Hey there!
Most times he is late. Although I have been there and he has only been a few mins late. But you just never know....he may have an emergency and not make it there for hours after your appointment....it is sooo hard to tell. Although my last appointment he had a Dr he is training to help, and also a girl that was an intern. Might make it a little faster.
I had to wait a long time from the signing until surgery as he was backed up. I signed in Jan and had surgery in August. But he was really behind and is caught up now. They told me that usually you would have your surgery about 4 months after your info session and no later then 6 months for sure. But seems from people on here lately it has been faster then 4 months!
Good luck with the eating. It is hard that is for sure...but just remember, if you are even a smidge over your last weigh in they will cancel you! That seemed to help me. And I didn't go without a treat here and there. SHHHHHH
Good luck and let us know when you get your call and how you are making out with eating. Talking about it usually helps keep on track too!
That is terrific Jay !! Things are moving along for you ! The day I had to go for my signing of papers ( Oct 19 th) my appointment was at 11:00 , I saw him at 12:30 and before that I saw the nurse. The day I had my tests I did not see the Dr but had to get weighed , 1 hour with Lise going over meds , pre admittion office, blood work, EKG, Chest x-ray and have my breathing checked. That was about 3 hours.
And 17 days later they called me with a date for my surgery only one month after I signed my papers. So you never know !
Just do not gain any weight , espeically before Dec 9th! After you sign you get this energy to stay on track , it gets real !!
Good Luck!!
Congrats Jay! Happy to hear things are moving forward for you.
If your appt is in the afternoon, I'd take the day off. He was 3 hours late the day I signed. In the morning when I went for my final appt before surgery, he was "only" an hour late I can't remember (I'm getting old!) how long after I signed that I got the date for surgery but I hope it goes quickly for you
