Pills Pills and more pills.
Hey Charline,
Yes hopefully some you will not have to take. But right from the beginning you are expected to take a centrum forte vitamin. THEY ARE BIG! And when I take one now after surgery they fill me up completely for a while. You can feel it all the way!
Then at month 3....when you should be able to eat pretty good. They want you to start taking Calcuim (2 a day), B12, and for younger women still able to have babies an Iron pill.
So they will be adding quite a few to the list too, for you to take forever. ;)
But really besides the huge vitamin pill, I didn't find it hard to take pills at all right from the beginning. Even in ICU I had to take a huge Potassium pill.
So have you requested an appointment with another internist? I know you have been waiting a long time to see one. It only took a couple of months for me to get into Dr Dornan in Saint John. Travel but at least not waiting for years!
Funny how different Drs say different things. My Dr said he would do it up right away and I heard from the internist within weeks. Tell your Dr to get off his or her butt! lol
I am doing pretty good after surgery. I have lost about 66lbs total and about 44 since surgery. Although I am slow. I will lose 3 or 4 lbs then nothing for days and days and then another 2 or 3lbs. But my clothes are hanging off me so something is changing all the time.
I feel great, feel like I didn't have a surgery. Only thing I notice is I still get a little tired out quicker and I went to a conference for work last week and sitting all day was a little hard on the stomach....it was sore like I had done sit ups all day.
hopefully I will be a healthy skinny girl here soon!!!!!
Oh I have been checking in with Dr McGibbon's office every few months and I am told it will be another year. I am really worried that I won't live long enough to have this surgery. I almost died last spring (again!! I guess neither God nor the devil are interested in having me as a guest!). I had a medical report done for LTD and I was in congestive heart failure when I was admitted for anemia last spring- I have also had a mild heart attach at some point in the past!! I am thinking about Mexico, but who will do the fills on the lap band? I have been told that there is a doctor here being trained to do the fills but that is just a rumor so far.
Hi I had my operation in September...I am from New Brunswick but I had my surgery in USA the dr, here toldme I needed to take Caltrate Calcuim 1200 mcg chewable and Centrum chewable B12 dot that you put under your toungue and B-1 and Urso for a preventive of gallbladder problems ...I started them a week aparty... I have lost 30 pounds so far and doing great I was on many pills but I now don't have to take my diabetes meds.. cholestrol pills ..thryoid pills... due to all these problems went away my diabetes before surgery was so high and I could not control it now I am so normal... overall I am s please with the operation...
