I met Dr Beausoliel for the first time on Oct 10/07 .As I sat in the waiting room I watched all the medical staff move around.Wondering which dr he was. When my name was finally called I was surprised of how young he was.He is a real nice guy and truly takes his time.He had an intern with him as he discussed my case.He gave me an option of either lap band or gastric bypass.I chose gastric bypass. He explained that I would not be done through laproscope where I had previous surgery's in that relative area it would be safer to open me up. I made a fool out of myself though when he asked me why I wanted the surgery.I don't know if I was tired from the 7 hour flight or was exhausted from the 5 hour drive from Nova Scotia. But like a fool I started to cry and explained my life to him up to that day through lots of tears.I was so embaraced. He smiled gave me a box of kleenex and listened to my story. After the meeting was through he told me that he would do my surgery and that his office would contact me with an info session date.

Hi I am sure we probably were in the waiting room together at some point, I also had consult that day. I am just wondering about you needing open due to previous surgeries. I have also had MANY past surgeries. 8 to be exact and he didn't tell me I needed open. I am a bit concerned with this. Did he say why it would be safer? I am wondering if I should contact the office. Did he give you an estimate about wait time for info session? He just told me my surgery would be very soon due to my health?? BUT no other info! So I am a bit curious! Hope you get a call soon. We will probably be in same info session! take care Krista Cook

I'm not sure of the reasons. All I know is he had me lift my shirt and examine my belly and pushed around my rib cage. That was when he told me that the surgery would be an open procedure. It may also have something to do with the type of surgery I had.Did he know about your past surgerys at the consult?I told him everything and left nothing out.I think he would have told you at the appt if you needed an open procedure if he knew all your facts. Are you concerned if it need be an open procedure?

Yeah he got me to lift my shirt too! So I guess you are right, he would have told me if he felt it was necessary. I informed him of all past surgeries, but he did not feel my stomach. I was a bit concerned about having an open procedure, due to recovery time being longer! Thanks for the info! Krista Cook
