how much weight do you need to lose to have surgery
Hi Jacqueline, Welcome to the forum...and nice to hear from another MacDougall as well...I had my Lapband done on the 7th of September...At no time was I given a specific amount to lose...just that I had to lose....I did the 1200 calorie diet in the book Lise gave me and I had great success....From the time of my signing in April until my surgery, I was down between 25 and 30 pounds for a total of 70 in the last couple of years.....keeping the weight off is my problem...I am sure you will do fine.
Best of luck
Darlene MacDougall
Welcome and congrats on your upcoming surgery! You will be put on a 1200 calorie diet for 3 weeks prior to surgery and they would like you to lose 8-10 lbs during that time. Take it from me ~ whatever you do, do NOT gain weight from the time you sign the consent form onward. Your surgery WILL be postponed if you do. Mine was put off by 2 months as I gained 5 lbs from the time I signed the papers 'til the pre-op diet. You have to start before then.
Wishing you well!
Hi Jacqueline ,
I sign my papers the same day , I'm having Gastric Bypass though. I have been trying too since my info session on September 11th , I think I am down 5lbs , but my weight changes from day to day ... I will need to get my own scale before I go to Moncton on the 19th so I will be able to gage it to Dr B's scale.
How long have you been waiting?
