Looking for a timeline

Hello: I have been reading this message board for a long time and thought I would finally jump aboard. I have my consult with Dr. B on Oct 22 at 1:30. Anybody else have their consult that day? What kind of timeline am I looking at from the consult to the surgery. I am having the lapband. Any information would be appreciated. I am from Alberton PEI, another other Islanders out there?

Hi Christene, I am from Summerside and had my Lapband surgery Sept 7....from consult to surgery for me was 2 weeks shy of a year but boy did it go fast.....I am 2 weeks out today and just finished the liquid part of the diet and will be starting mushies tomorrow.....can't wait. It has been quite easy so far.....but I looking forward to the next phase...Keep us posted on your progress Darlene

Thanks Darlene. Did you go through PEI Health or did you pay out of pocket? I am just wondering if paying out of pocket moves things along faster? Any ideas? --Christine

I went through PEI medicare...I had to pay $4500.00 myself, I am not sure if self payers go faster with Dr B or not...I think I heard that they don't. I know some people go to Toronto and I am sure they get done faster...Am I right guys????

Yeah, I went to Toronto for my lap band and it was just over a month of contacting them that I got my date. One week post op and losing..Darlene - I can't wait for mushies!!!! I have had enough of soups...just 7 more days before mushies..lol.. Good luck! (shrinking) Shanan

Hi Christine: I just was banded on July 24th. Timeline-wise, I met Dr B for the first time in May of 2006 so it was a year before my surgery. I was scheduled for May but gained 5 lbs so they postponed me for another 2 months. Hope your timeline is faster and wishing you all the best! Krista
