Pre-op diet is making me weak!!!
Hey there,
I am not sure if it's just me, but I have been on the pre-op diet for the past 11 days, and I have 5 more days to go. I can barely make it up one flight of stairs and when I walk I my muscles get tight and achy.
Did anyone experience this? I am sure it's just the strict diet and limited calories, but I am not sure what kind of shape I will be for surgery on Sept. 20th! LOL
I think I am just writing this in hopes of getting some motivation to keep going, because all I wanna do is flop out on the floor and go to sleep. (and I am at work right now..lol)

Hi Shanan,
You can do this!!!! Are you doing the 1200 calories outlined in the book from Lise?? If so, follow it to a tee...it is 1200 calories and you shouldn't be hungry...Make sure you eat your protein and not just carbs, if there is something you don't like substitute another food...from the same food group...in place of it...Keep up with your water also!!!!Only 5 days to go and you will be a loser too!!!!!
Best of luck
Darlene
Hi,
I didn't feel like that before surgery on the pre-op diet, but I did feel just like that a few days after surgery. I upped my veggies and protien and in a day or so I felt good again.
Are you sticking to the diet exactly??? I had a few treats here and there in the pre-op diet. Nothing major or bad for you. Just added some yummy good for me meals that I love. Pepper steak and grilled veggies.
But really if you are feeling like that I would call the Dr office ad let them know...maybe they can suggest something you are missing that will fix you right up!
Take care of yourself!

It is pretty similar to this one. Actually this is the website which they get most of the info in their book. This is where Dr B trained for surgery I do believe.
Yes, just 4 days away!!
So far, I have lost 13.8 lbs according to my scale...that is what is motivating me.
So, the diet I am on is every 4 waking hours for two weeks pre-op, I have have one of the floowing every four waking hours: a meal replacement shake (opti-fast), or 6 oz cottage cheese or 6 oz of yogourt or 2 oz chicken or fish with certain veggies with balsamic vinegar. Those are my choices - yeehaw. I think after surgery I won't really be interested in foods, but right now, it's just hard. I hadn't slipped on the diet except for last night. I went to Walmart, bought a hot air popcorn maker and had a few handfuls of popcorn with becel spray on them while I watched a movie with my daughter.
Plus I had some diet dr. pepper and some sugar free jello a little later after that.
Oh, yeah, I HAD to have a bite of my boyfriend's pizza - you would have thought I had been starving for years the way I savoured that bite! So I guess I did slip up a bit, but for being on the diet for 12 days, 14 lbs isn't too bad to lose. Plus I am still walking and drinking lots of water!
Anyhoo, I am getting really nervous and excited and I will just keep persevering in the hope that this pre-op diet will soon be over with! hahaha
Thanks so much for the help!
Soon to be a bandster!!!!!
