Another ??

I have another silly question for all of you. Are there any on here who have had their surgery and paid for it out of pocket instead of waiting for Medicare and the red tape that goes along with it? If so, did you get in any sooner? I am actually considering financing it through a loan and was wondering if the financing was worth it in terms of wait time. My credit sucks big time but my parents are considering co-signing for a loan for me. Michelle

I haven't heard of anyone getting in faster here by paying.. I have however heard of others getting it done in Ontario and paying there... sorry I couldn't be more help. Angela

Hi Michelle: I have a friend who paid her own way through Dr Coburn in Ontario. I think she got it within 3-4 months since she first contacted them. I know Dr Coburn has people in the province that can do fills as well. You might want to check it out. Dr B's waiting list is long! I waited 3 years (although I'm not a self-pay)

When I called Dr. B's office, I got the impression that you go to the head of the list if you are self pay, but I could be wrong. Why not contact the receptionist at Dr. B's office?

I forgot to say that I was calling about the lap band procedure. That could change the effect of being self pay on wait time as he is able to do several lap bands a week but only one of the other surgery.
