Hello all from Fredericton, Its been a wonderful experience, this RNY thing. I can say I haven't regretted the decision even once since surgery. I love my new eating habits, lifestyle and size I went from a 6x -7x last August to an XL currently. Ive lost 1.5 shoe sizes and lots of inches everywhere. I will need 1 or 2 more surgeries for plastic surgery but I'm still very happy with my new body, saggy skin and all :P I have had no complications (so far) and no complaints I hope everyone else is enjoying their journey. Any time you want to chat drop me a line. HUGS T

Hello Terese: Congratulations on your weight loss that is wonderful. You mentioned that you still have to have a few more surgeries for plastic surgery and I was wondering if Medicare is covering the plastic surgery or do you have to pay for it yourself?..I know that Medicare or from what I have heard is that they will cover certain plastic surgery if the extra skin that is hanging is causing any problems with rashes etc...I am just wondering because once I get my bypass done I am sure I will need the plastic surgery as well. Hope to hear from you soon and best of luck in your further weight loss. Cheers Beth

Hi Beth Sorry it took me so looong to respond :P OH doesnt seem to give me notifications from this board and I dont know why I was a self pay RNYer due to time constraints, ie not likely to live long enough to see a consultation date in NB and even less likely to see a surgery day. I went to Montreal where a private clinic offers RNY and band at pretty high prices with a 1 month wait list. My doctor here submitted the referal to get me in to see a plastic surgeon here in Fredericton in December, I havent heard anything from them yet. I doubt medicare will pay for it, even though my apron is quite pronounced, they have been fighting paying these lately in NB. I want a small amount of nipping and tucking in a few odd places and a full frontal tummy tuck with abdominal muscle repair. IF medicare pays for any of it I will pay out of pocket for the rest and have my OR room, anestiseologist, and hospital stay covered by medicare. This would end up costing me around $1 - 2000. If medicare pays for none of it I will likely be going to Brazil or Mexico paying for a package deal of 2 weeks in a resort, aftercare, surgery and flight for about $8000 total. Good luck T
