I'm so happy for you Pamela! So you only had to spend 2 nights in the hospital? Thats awesome. How long did the surgery last? Was there a lot of pain when you woke up? How long before you got on your feet? Thanks for any informatiom you can give me. MIM

Yup the night of your surgery you stay in the intensive care unit and the next night in a regular room. The surgery lasted for around 2.5 hours I think he said...the first night I was really groggy and couldn't stay awake too long. I drifted in and out staying awake for a couple of hours max each time..As far as the pain goes I had some the first night in my back and they ended up giving me 2 shots of diladin for it..and that was it I think it's because of the operating room table..it is so small and so uncomfortable, and the nurse said that the back is where most of the pain is for bariatric patients. He gave me a prescription for diladin to use at home for pain but I haven't had any at all since the first night. I was up out of bed and sitting in the chair twice the first night after surgery for about 15 mins each. They were quite surprised but I didn't want to get blood clots.,and the next day I walked the halls three times during the day. I thought it'd be a lot worse..and was prepared for being in a lot of pain...so I was happy this wasn't the case. I also had a 2.5 hour drive back hom and the drive didn't even bother me, although I would suggest not driving yourself..getting someone else to do the driving back home and if it's a long drive stopping every so often and just moving your legs and feet for 5 to 10 mins each...to keep the blood and oxygen in your legs moving. Hope that helps;)

CONGRATS!! You sound like all is going well! I hope you continue on a steady road to recovery! Thanks for the advice! I have been a bit concerned about the drive home after, as I have a 7 hour drive...my Step-Father will be coming with me to do the driving. I still have a long wait ahead of me, but it is good to have some plans made! My surgery probably wont be until early next year, as they have stopped consults until futher notice...LUCKY ME!! (I am 12th on the pre-approved list) Good luc****ep us posted! Krista P.S. it seems so amazing that 1/2 cup of anything makes you full!! I have to say I look forward to that day!! LOL
