After 3 years (same as Pam almost!)

I've been waiting 3 years as well and I called yesterday to see where I am and it's finally coming true! There are 7 people waiting for Lap Band at the moment and a couple of them wanted it after May so the secretary told me there is a BIG POSSIBILITY that I will have the surgery in May. WOOHOO~ I go in to sign consent on April 13th (which is a Friday and the anniversary of my Mom's death - 2 years) Perhaps Mom had a hand in the date eh? The secretary said there are 25 people waiting now for bypass and they have stopped scheduling the full day sessions for a while since there are so many and they don't want to give the info session too early in the process. I also asked how long the waiting list is now - was it 5 years and she said "It's getting there". Many more people going for bypass than the lap band. I can't believe this is finally coming true

Just to clarify re the # of people waiting -- these are people that have been through the initial consult with Dr B and have also had their full day information session. I didn't want to give anyone the wrong impression. Unfortunately, there is a long wait for the surgery ...

That's awesome news Krista.. Wow the wait is getting longer and longer..I feel sorry for the peeps who are now just getting started..they need another surgeon who can do these surgeries to take some of the load off of Dr. B.

Krista ... Good for you ! I'm still waiting for the info session .... hopefully in April .... I was told the same thing that they stopped the info sessions until he gets caught up somewhat. I thought that he only did one bypass a week ... but she told me he sometimes does 4 or 5 a week of GB alone . She said he does just as many Lap Bands as Bypass in a week. I thought it was 5 bands and 1 bypass per week . I guess he is just so busy . I bet your mom would be happy to know that you finally made it this far!!
