Surgery went great!!!
Hey everyone that I know, and everyone I don't LOL... Just a short note to let everyone know that I finally had my surgery. It was scheduled for the 29th of November but got cancelled because Dr. B was sick... I was prepped and ready to go waiting for a few hours and was cancelled... I was rescheduled for the 12th of December... to answer a few questions from an earlier post, nope, I didn't get the lapband, I got the bypass... and thankfully was able to get it laproscopically (I know I spelled that wrong hahaha). I have 5 small incisions that are held together with glue and staples (which come out on the 4th of January, thank god they are driving me nuts!!!) Everything went fabulous... after the surgery I was brought to the ICU and got to stay there for the whole time cuzz there were no rooms upstairs, so I got a private room for 3 days... woo hoo *L* there wasn't a lot of pain while I was there, just mild discomfort ( could be because of the morphine LOL) and I got to go home on thursday... the drive (2 hours) wasn't so bad, I got home had a nap, and when I woke up... wow was I hurting!!! I could hardly take a breath in.. so MAKE SURE you do your breathing exercises.... everything felt better after I started to do them again.. guess they all know what they are talking about afterall LOL... So, so far so good... I can't look at soup though, makes me gag just thinking of eating it.. LOL.. sooooooo I don't.. ick... and I haven't had any problems eating regular foods so far, no pain, keeping my fingers crossed.... I can't wait to go get my staples out on the 4th because I want to know how much weight I have lost... it is coming off very quickly and I'm loving it!! Hopefully I will get my internet back soon and I will be able to keep in touch with everyone more often.... So to everyone I know that had it done before me.. hope all is well and I will talk to you soon, and for everyone that hasn't gone yet, if you have any questions about my experience, feel free to email me or post them here... I will answer them as soon as I can... I am sure glad I did this, I have no regrets at all!!! Have a wonderful Christmas day everyone and I hope your New Year is fabulous....

Congratulations on your surgery I am glad to hear all went well. I am a newbie but have thing put in motion from my family doctor to Dr. B's office just waiting for a call from his office as well also waiting to see Dr Dornan the Endocrinologist to send the paper work to Medicare for the coverage. I am not sure yet what procedure I will be getting until I have been assessed, but I don't think I would be able to afford the Lap Band procedure even though it seems to be the best one. It had been a long struggle for me with my weight for many years and very frustrating at that. I have tried so many diets as well as Weigh****chers,Curves Slim Fast, plus Xenical from my family Dr and that was way to expensive permonth.
I was wondering how long have you waited to have this surgery done or should I say when did your journey begin? There are so many questions to ask just don't know where to begin but if you would like to email me my addy is [email protected].
I look forward to hearing from you when you get the chance take care.

Great News Angela!!
I am waiting , hopefully 2007 will be my year . I can't complain I guess , I only started my journey in June 2005 . I am really nervous about the snacking part ... I usually get light headed and shakey if I do not eat , then gourge on everything in front of me when I am so hungry . I hope those feelings go away , I find Christmas time so hard .
I know what you mean about those staples , they do drive ya nuts ! I had them in my back when I had a disk removed 6 years ago and I can say that was the worst part of the whole surgery . I didn't like getting them(STAPLES) out either , but it was probably more the thought than anything .
Keep up the great work !
