I would just like to know how long it took some of you to see the internist ( Dr.Mallet) after your first visit with the bariatric nurses or -and Rinette at G.L. Dumont.
Is it really after 6 months...then the internist, then the letter to Medicare...then the wait...then what...???
Also, we have a new health Minister in NB...Mike Murphy...I was told that he is very much informed on both the lapband and the gastric bypass...
Has anyone heard if the Lapband will be paid by medicare in the next year ?
So many questions...
Thanks .

Yes, it's really six months. It was for me anyway. I had to see Dr. B on month three and month six. I saw Dr. Mallet on October 13th, which was about 8 months after I started. As of a week and a half ago when I called to see how things were moving, they still hadnt' sent my letter to medicare. I'm still waiting.
Connie, My friend told me that Dr MacDonald was going to be practicing in Amherst. It is a shame that the NS government don't feel that WLS needs to be addressed. Having said that , you still should be able to get approval to have the procedure done in Moncton, I did!
Don't give up with your quest to have this surgery done , you got to try all possibilities !
