New to Mssg Board, Newly Banded
Hi!
I was banded three days ago on July 19/06. The surgery went very well, although I was in the hospital longer than I thought I would be. From surgery until leaving it was about 8 hours. I didn't mind, though. The nurses in the day surgery unit were so super! I loved the nice warm flannel blankets! :)
Now on the clear fluid regimen and finding it tough already! I am hungry from time to time and find it hard to get excited about my next meal...although today I found I like a Campbell's soup Japanese beef broth--has ginger and teriyaki flavor, so it's at least tasty.
Is it normal to be hungry at this point? I feel darn good otherwise, considering the surgery was not too long ago. I also wonder about taking the bandages off--when they are exposed and brushing against clothing, do the incisions get sore?

Hi Deb,
I was banded on July 7th. (banded sounds like I'm a bird or fish).
I had to rely on popsicles a lot! I does take some getting used to all the clear fluids. Are you using a clear fluid meal replacement drink. I used Resource which you can get at most Shoppers Drugs. Half way through the second week I got pretty cranky!!
It isn't easy - but that is the way it is.
With my Doctor in Moncton, he had me take the bandages off next day. I have staples (getting them out tomorrow) and I could take a shower next day also. I had no trouble with them whatsoever. You don't even notice them when you have your clothes on.
Anyway - please hang in there day by day.
Hugs - Carolyn
